No, I like them as they are. With a clear sky and flat, even terrain, they're near enough guaranteed to drop their cargo right, and that's all that counts. Everything else is just the natural side effects of hot-dropping equipment into the middle of a battlefield.
How boring would it be if they delivered with 100% certainty, no matter where you called them in or what was going on around you? It makes you more aware of where you're calling hardware in, and when, and with all RDV pilots having a mandatory minimum level of alcohol in their bloodstream, every request is an emotional rollercoaster. |

It makes you more aware of where you're calling hardware in, and when, and with all RDV pilots having a mandatory minimum level of alcohol in their bloodstream, every request is an emotional rollercoaster. and the times that they literally pick THE ONLY ****ING DIRECTION THERE IS ANY KIND OF BUILDING IN THE AREA to crash directly into from? I call it in an open field, I expect my entire-match-worth-of-ISK and still crappy car to be delivered in a timely fashion, and relatively intact. not slammed into literally the only object high enough withing almost a full kilometer. please tell me how my one, STILL CRAPPY car that costs several times more than your suit should just randomly be slammed into buildings because you can't get out of the way. I'm not even up to using the real meaty things for 'em yet, like tanks, and derpships, and the better LAV's.
Please understand, I have a nice car too, and on more than one occasion, Speed TruckGäó has met a premature end due to the circumstances surrounding its delivery. I'm not just a suit lolling at your rage, I'm a driver, still lolling at your rage.
And yeah, the AI can definitely get better. And dropship pilots could have more warning before the RDV decloaks on top of them. But the basic idea of you picking the spot and having to deal with the consequences has to stay. Want your precious gold-plated dropship delivered in one piece? You could go run over to that nice big plain in your own redline, and still get sniped just as it finishes delivery. War is hell. |
