Mai Gawd, Gaiz.
Okay, right. As can be proven by any vet with about five minutes work, an SP reset doesn't actually matter. Why, you ask? I'm glad you asked such an important question.
The vets already know the mechanics of the game, they already know the maps, the weapons, the vehicles. They are used to the controls, and know how to fit the dropsuits just the way they like it. Basically, they just know the game a lot better than any new players. Most vets can create a new character, go into the Noob Academy, and start killing en masse. This has happened before, and will probably happen again.
All you do by forcing an SP reset is force the vets to either quit, or play with the noobs again. Either way it's very, very bad for the game. In the first instance, you lose a lot of your most valuable and committed people. This is horrible for a game in its infancy.
In the second instance, you lose all the new players who have called for this reset in the first place, not realising exactly what kind of ****storm they were calling on themselves. Then you lose all the core players anyway, because there's no population in game to keep them interested.
So, newbs, which would you prefer? Being slaughtered by guys in protosuits if you go instant battle, allowing you to have an excuse and something to complain about, or being slaughtered in noob academy, with no excuse to turn to, and no one to blame but yourself? |

Sigh. Since everyone seems to have ignored my post completely, here it is again. These are some coherent arguments AGAINST an SP reset, regardless of personal feelings on the matter. Either way, all an SP reset does is force people out of the game.
Frankly, I don't give a damn whether I'm reset or not. Well, I do, but I'll still play the game. I would rather not have my SP reset to 500k, but if CCP decides that's a good path to walk down, then fine.
