CPL Bloodstone wrote:Sorry to say i have petitioned for a refund. Many threads have come down about dropships in general and i feel im going to follow Skihids (sp?) and refund. I will more than likely specialize in one thing like medic and if i have some points left over, might throw a few towards some basic ships for now. For being one of the most fun things to do in dust it has become the most painful experience as well.
Perhaps one day when CCP finishes dealing with QQ over AR & SR's maybe just maybe they will take a look at Dropships and not with the nerf hammer they continually swing at it. All in all im just dissapointed, im not even mad anymore.
Good luck to those who continue to fly fully spec'd into ADS, i applaud you and will cheer when i see you guys flying above and morn you when you are killed by militia forge gun. I will say a little prayer.
"There are old pilots and bold pilots but few if any old-bold pilots"
Personally as a long time drop ship pilot myself i fly logistics only, because it can act as an assault (and in many cases even better than an assault) in battle because of the 2 side turrets, all that's missing in the equation are gunners who are skilled. With good gunners however, they have gone 20-0 in my DS while i also reap the assist rewards, and also turret destruction awards. Honestly i truly believe the Eryx (or the other logi) is the only practical (even though it's still way un-practical for profit) way to be a DS pilot. I suggest you convert into Logistics if you really want to still fly, and just sheild tank it like i do. I have an Overdrive injector that allows me to escape out of the battle when i get hit by an FG, i can even get out in time to survive those proto Assault FG's in some cases. I agree with you though that they really ****** up on the assault dropships, because they aren't assault dropships at all. The only thing that in CCP's minds that apparently makes a dropship an "assault dropship" (And because of this deems a 300K boost more than logi???) is because it gets 1 more stupid, useless turret that the pilot can hardly control let alone get kills with. So again, my advice, go logi. |

I ran a few times with some awesome gunners who went 20/0 as well. It was only because the other team was stupid and didn't bring out forge guns. even militia.
I woudn't tank into resist mods, and instead go into extender mods. I have 3 sheild extenders on my Eryx and it can withstand about 4 shots from FG's before loosing its shields, which about 85% of the time gives me enough time to activate my overdrive injector and get out of there. I'm not using an afterburner, just 1 high-slot over-drive injector with PG extenders in my low-slots so it can afford the PG to have 3 sheild extenders and 1 Afterburner |

Believe me i know there are still many problems with being a DS pilot (my topic with 9 pages and a dev reply will show) there is no way to make money right now by being a DS pilot, however, you can still contribute a lot to your team in PC's and skirms by being that useful pilot who can drop units where they need to be, and that's my role in dust right now. |
