Why do you guys insist on chattering in this thread? Not everyone has their forum format set up the same way as you.
If you need to chatter at least include the GM's post. |

bigolenuts wrote:I called my provider (Charter Communications) and spoke with the troubleshooting guys and explained the issue. Of course they answered with, "you need to contact Sony" as I knew they would. I was warming them up to inquire about the "internet weather" which was met with laughter. I then asked to speak to a Tier 2 advisor and went through some troubleshooting steps and got the same answer, "you need to contact sony", which I was expecting. I repeated the question about "internet weather" and again was met with laughter. He did tell me to "hold on", I heard some tapping/clicking and then he says, "nothing out of normal on the internet today. I just checked a few sites to see if there was something going on with maybe an Anonymous hack or heavy traffic and it all seems normal"..I thanked him and hung up...
Cool story, huh?
This is priceless. lol Love it man.
So half of us are just here stuck on the sidelines because of internet gremlins.

UPDATE: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=73713&find=unread
[quote=GM Grave]For those of you noticing that downloads appear to be resetting to 0%, this does not indicate a problem with your download but is a known defect with our UI. The DUST download is split into parts, and the progress is displayed is for each part rather than for the total download. While this is confusing the drop to 0 simply means that you have completed one part of the download and are now downloading another file, for example:
Currently the way this client handles multi-part content streaming downloads is that it resets the progress bar to 0% after downloading each individual file (there are ~6 in the current build), and also reduces the total at the same time.
So at the start you would see:
0% of 1.22 GB GǪ 5% of 1.22 GB GǪ 10% of 1.22 GB (end of file 1)
0% of 1.01 GB GǪ GǪ (end of file 2)
0% of 828 MB GǪ GǪ Etc etc etc
On behalf of everyone from the DUST 514 team please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. |

Game reads: "Updating game client (0.00%) - 0.0 B/s 4.60MiB" It remains unchanged despite several restarts. I'm not downloading anything in parts. It really is just sitting there. |

Are we looking at some sort of potential sabotage? Possibly from someone on the east end? A loic directed at Tranquility in some way? I figured the only way to get a connection to TQ is via a game client (EVE or Dust), is it possible to reduce connections to it remotely by some other connection? I mean, I understand the game is quite important to a lot of people, but at this point I wouldn't discount it.
Closed my internet connection and tried using my neighbors unlocked wifi (it's actually faster than my cable line).
Same result. Going anywhere else on the internet is no issue. I can easily ping east coast servers, west coast servers, and even international ones, and I can draw up their websites too.
I can do the same through the PS3 as well. Everything is fully updated on my PS3, and the Internet itself is just fine.
This is a Dust problem. |

lol We probably don't even have any devs on this side of the planet.
Anyone that can help anything is probably dead asleep right now.
21 pages and no word? All we get is one valiant GM doing his best to handle damage control?
Oh boy... this is gonna take a long time... |

I wonder if I'll get a single PC match in today?
My corp had almost a dozen scheduled and I've been blockaded all day.
...maybe Anonymous hatez Eastcoast Dusters...dunno ;-)
But I like Anonymous, why they be mean to me? |

Eldest Dragon wrote:yinorin wrote:Eldest Dragon wrote:What I would like to know dev's is, if the problem is found and can be fixed will it be today, or will you wait untill the next down time? Because if thats the case then you could save everyone a lot of time, trouble, and waiting by saying so. Then we all wont be sitting at the pc waiting for confirmation that its fixed and trying over and over to update the client. I would personally appreciate an answer to this, so if the next downtime is the fix time, I can do something else with my time and give up on the idea of playing today.
p.s. I'm sure a lot of ppl here on the forums and on the east coast would be thankful for an answer to this as well! I'll be honest I'm actually thinking in the same bout as him. I can understand you Dev's at CCP have your work cut out for you and how things could be very difficult I took a year in comp tech so I'm only able to fathom what you guys gotta deal with but I do think a remark on whether this will be attempted to be finished during game time or will be found then fixed during down time is a honest and easy question to answer. either way luck to you CCP :3 P.S as much as things get "buffed" or "nerfed" I still enjoy the game as long as it improves ^_^ thnx yin some agree's and likes might get us an answer..=)
This^
Can someone at CCP just tell us, "Look. Sorry guys, you can't play today. We need some time to fix this. Come check X amount of time later." That way you guys can fix what you need to without pressure, and we don't sit here and get a migraine via annoyance with repeatedly trying to log in.

Ok, so apparently I've connected.
Definitely a UI problem.
Here's the trick.
- Sign in. - Wait 10 mins or so. - Restart game (you'll see a little orange bar before the Updating Game Client text pops up. keep track of this) - Wait another 10 mins. - Restart game again. (the orange bar should be further along.) - Wait another 10 mins. - Restart again (the game won't start on it's own no matter HOW long you wait, restarting is necessary) - Wait another 10 mins. - Keep track of the orange bar, eventually it should have traveled far enough, and the game will say that updating is complete.
- Show up late to PC. |
