As a heavy, im quite happy where i am. On a normal day i pull out my advanced suit, pile on some decent mods and happily career around a battlefield murdering whatever i can get into range.
However, i hit that point where what to train next comes to mind...
Browsing my options i have a look at the sentinel and well... a x10 skill to get a 10% reload speed bonus doesnGÇÖt appeal... at all.
I put forward that there there is no real incentive to train for the sentinel class, the suits offer no advantage other than the reload speed over the basic suits. (Ignoring Aurum suits n the like).
Is there some super Amarr heavy laser weapon of doom coming that i should know about? |

Garrett Blacknova wrote:Amarr will definitely be getting a Heavy weapon of some kind.
It will probably be a Super Death Laser of Doom and Destruction.
For now, you get reload speed on Heavy Weapons or reduced overheat damage on the couple of non-Heavy weapons that have overheat damage.
Unfortunately if thats the case then it will never be trained.
The basic and advanced sentinal offer nothing new, and getting their skill past 2 or 3 for just those suits is an incredible sp sink, for very little gain.
Effectively there is an entire class of suits that will only be used by crazy die hards.

Op is right in that 2/3 slot layout is immensely superior to 1/4, makingframe suit much better than sentinel.
2/2 compared to 1/3 ... dont know where you got those extra slots. And the proto standard has the 1/3 layout if needed |

Link or quote, cos ive heard nothing on those |

Boomer Dues Mortis wrote:I am currently using a std sentinel heavy suit, the thing is 3x cheaper than the base frame X that by a year and that is a lot of isk saved. My entire fit I am using atm for pub matches costs 11k isk. I also figure some time down the road we are going to get a laser hmg ( hopes it is like the one from fall out 3 ) if so I would assume it can overheat and actually damage you, vs the one we have now that no one overheats and if you are bad and do overheat it, it does no damage to you.
Huh they are cheeper... weird... still dont think its worth the skill point investment (wouldnt use a standard... couldnt fit complex dmg mods lol)
Chibi Andy wrote:Boomer Dues Mortis wrote: I also figure some time down the road we are going to get a laser hmg yeah, so its better to wait for that specific weapon to come out before speccing into the sentinel suit, though it would be nice to see a laser hmg
Doubt it would be another mini gun style, or just a bigger laser... pulse cannon? |

Himiko Kuronaga wrote:Proto sentinel is better for point defense during actual important fights, ADV sentinel is better for random pub matches due to lack of cost and room for speed mods.
Basic frame is better for "herp derp i've got two damage mods".
the basic suits can do the same tho... and all those skill points... not worth a x10
N1ck Comeau wrote:Any advantage is a good advantage, i'd rather have that 10% reload speed bonus then to not have it.
unless you have maxed your other support skills... HMG prof for example |

The Sentinel ak.0 is with 100% certainty 1 high, 4 low.
kittens... getting mixed up between my advances and proto's |
