If you want a short and simple answer
Caldari Logi: Pick this if you want to go extremely defensive on hit points. Gallente Logi: Pick this if you want all your equipment to be top tier equipment. Amarr Logi: Pick this if you want a sidearm at the cost of one equipment spot. Minmatar: Pick this if you want to be a bit faster and provide more support through hacking fast.
All logi's get 4 equipment at prototype except for the Amarr since that one gets a sidearm (edit: and apparently Caldari also only gets 3 at prototype). Also you can look at the slot layouts of each to see which is able to support more of the mods you like. I personally go Gallente Logi because it is the only one that can fit a prototype equipment in all 4 slots and still have CPU/PG left for good weapons and mods thanks to the 25% reduction of equipment CPU/PG bonus. |

If Plasma Cannon was an equipment then I'd say good idea. But it's not, it's a light weapon. Body shots with it aren't too hard, but you can't rely on that and it takes awhile to reload your next rocket. Don't get me wrong, Plasma Cannon is a good weapon, but only if you combo it with something like an SMG. If it's your only weapon, good luck.

I just can't really think of any other weapon I'd be comfortable with that isn't a sidearm. Well hey if you can pull it off mad props to you!

To those saying using a sidearm is a bad choice for a logi, I'd reconsider. During the beta if you have the logistics starter fit it was given an SMG. I wondered why give it a sidearm, but tried rolling with that as I spec'd into the logi.
Having a sidearm turned out to be quite good if you are playing a strictly support role with your logi. Think about it, you are always in a group so you'll never be at much of a disadvantage, you'll have extra room to fit better equipment so you can be a better support, and if range is an issue consider this: If the enemy is out of range then you can focus on equipment support and you're squad can get into cover if needed, and if the enemy is in range the SMG can tear it up especially considering it is a armor effective weapon countering the common AR's and SCARs.
On the other hand, if you are building your logi fit to be more of a slayer that strays from the pack often and does some support here and there on the side, then definitely stick with a light weapon. |
