Hi folks,
I already started a thread about this topic and want to put in a request.
Even if this won't be implemented would be interesting to hear some official feedback on this.
The basic problem is that if you want to play Artificer you have the chance of either resurrect a fallen player or heal him if you haven't unlocked the racial dropsuits yet. There's simply no dropsuit which has at least two Equipment slots so I could equip a Nanite Inector and a Repair Tool simoultaniously.
Especially during random battles it is very hard to get a squad together which plays together and has a dropsuit fitting which is matched (one player has Injectors, the other one has the Repair Tool).
Is there any chance to get at least one drop suit which is usable and has at least 2 EQ slots?
Cheers! |

I assume you mean other than the Fossil, which costs real money... |

Yes, I think that's the only one which costs 90AUR. But if you really want to play Logistics somehow useful then so far the only way is to spend real money or you have to wait for ages to get the points. All other classes can directly jump in and use their specialities. |

Yeah, it's not a good system at all.
I'm thinking that they will eventually go in and add type II, 2 series, and k.1 medium suits that are more logistics based, but this might not be for a very long time.
If anything, this is the one change I would make to the current system. Either that or giving the basic minmatar and gallente prototype suits an extra equipment slot. |

Currently, there's the Fossil (AUR) and the Skinweave not-a-Logi-any-more (closed beta reward).
There really needs to be a Militia Medium Frame variant that's a sort of "pre-Logi" suit. |

It will do if CCP adds a logistics dropsuit with 2 EQ slots, not requiring Dropsuit command @5 and Racial logistics. Dropsuit cmd @3 will do to use them imho... Logistics with 3EQ slots costs 6k ISK. Not much compared with other medium frames. This new dropsuit could cost 3k ISK...

Yeah, this one was a head scratcher for me as well. luckily I bought a 'fossil', unluckily as they took it during the respec and then they doubled the price (scummy business practice and I will be saying something to CCP so Devs I hope you are ready to hear from me on this subject 'cause It's not going to be my usual Calm Cool Collected as this is my real money you f*cked with)... another stumper as I had to play for 2 days before I could get 1 level into minmitar logi suits so I could use my 'Sever'. After starting off with a cheap basic medium frame, I thought to myself "ok maybe the advanced or proto med frame has an extra EQ slot.... NOOOOPE. So it is a valid question.

2 ways they could have done this:
1. Add a 2 slot logistics suit at militia level for all suits and 3 slot suits in basic frame. At prototype, they should have the slot layout of the logistic suits we have now, but without the bonus. Everyone gets their logi suits for the same price and everyone's happy. Logi suits with logi/racial bonuses look appealing from this level, but you have enough SP left to prioritize on core skills, mods, weapons, and most important: equipment. No SP sink, problem solved. Or, even better:
2. Dual prerequisite system between basic frame and racial suits for all sizes and classes. One level in basic frame unlocks the ability to skill one level in class suit. So, you do a level in basic frame, you get a level in logistics frame. Go back and level basic again to unlock a level in logistics frame. That way, nobody has to get level 5 in a suit class just to unlock a tier one class suit with an inferior meta level just for a racial bonus. Everyone's happy, the SP sink is still there, but it feels like less of an SP sink because everything is on the same level.
As of right now, the logi class which is already starved for SP has to put out more to get less while all the other classes can get into last build's variations of their suits and pilots can get into their respective proto vehicles in almost half the time. |

Yep, Ive droped well over 2mil SP into Amarr dropsuits. Ive got as far as level 2 Amarr Logi which equates to yeah I can use Proto basic frames but only a STD Logi.... Level 3 and the Advanced suit seems so far away when there are other SP sinks also screaming for my attention. |

I agree that the current skill spec to get a basic Logi suit is exorbinant. However I don't agree with giving anyone 2+ equipment slots without specializing into support.
In my humble opinion, it should be a medium frame suit option, with a race version beyond, like most other suits. |

There used to be a Militia Logistic Suit with two Equip slots. It was a reasonable solution although not a perfect introduction it was a good starting point for someone that wanted to test the waters of the Logi Bro world.
However, making the game more difficult for New Berries is the order of the day. This certainly fits the current model when one considers that to Skill into a Logi Bro Suit takes ~2M SP not counting the Skills to actually equip the modules required to be effective. That leaves me to believe this was a specific design decision to force New Berries away from Logi Bro Fits in the beginning. Why they would make that decision is a mystery to me.
I miss DUST 514. This DUST 14/5 is not nearly as nice a game. |

I see. You have a point there. Probably a different solution would be to tie in another skill which is unique to Logistics and you would have to level anyway and make it a prerequisite. But then we're at the point of Logistics having to put in more effort in to get a halfway decent setup.
What is so bad with an additional EQ slot? Was it so bad the way it was before the patch? I could get 2/3 EQ slot dropsuits as easy as other classes get theirs but now... |

It's not so much that it's bad, as that it nerfs the Logi even more. As a Logi, I spend the majority of my time using 2 pieces of equipment. The third becomes a situational bonus. As soon as you give players 2, then the need for teamplay is removed, and having a logi in a squad is better replaced with 2 Assaults, each carrying a couple of pieces of equipment. Having a militia version, results in a lot less dedicated killers on the field, and I feel it encourages new players not to learn the core mechanics of the game first. A logi's role is to support those dedicated killers.
Yes there are players who want to learn to be a logi, and I feel like if they rearranged the dropsuit skill tree as I described above - with Logi being a suit class like medium frame, or requiring Medium frame lvl 1, and having Racial suits as next tier - then you'd have 2 slots on early suits and 3 slots on higher tiers. This would grant appreciable advancement, and the opportunity to try out Logi styles as a mild investment of specialized SP. It would also create the role variation, without putting 2 slots out of reach of a new player. (~ 200,000 SP would be required) |
