Or am I reading this wrong?
- Source -
- Updated all HAV and LAV HP Values (please post your feedback here): STD & Militia HAVs - 25% more HP, Enforcer HAVs and Militia LAVs - 60% more HP, STD & Scout LAVs - 50% more HP, Charybdis Logistics LAV - 70% more HP, Limbus Logistics LAV - 40% more HP
- Shield and armor upgrades skills were changed from maximum shield/armor bonus to shield/armor resistance to vehicles (please post your feedback here) - +5% maximum armor/shield -> +2% resistance to shield/armor per level
So if I'm seeing this correctly, depending on how you've skilled yourself, you could be losing up to 25% HP off of both your shields and your armor, for only 10% resist, which is technically even less than that if you run resistance modules.
Since dropships didn't receive an HP buff, they actually have had a reduction?
Umm...

Losing 25% shields and 25% armour aint to bad considering in exchange you get 10% dmg resistance for them instead. Stackin 1 or two damage resistant mods will have you automaticlly stopping like 30%+ damage And don't forget their buffing the base health of tanks anyway, so really we're just getting damage resistance for free technically so don't moan, CCP give'ff and CCP can take'ff away. |

Here's something I actually don't know about vehicles; is that 25% bonus being applied only to hull HP, or does it modify your augmented HP (through shield extenders and armor plates)?
If it's just the hull, then the 10% might be nice. If it's the augmented, then it's not.

That's only Assaults, they butchered the speed and handling on the logistics ships in order to "buff" the Assault ships |

DUST Fiend, I think you need to cut your losses, get that optional respec and wait for LAAs if you want to fly. Unless you have enough DS pilots to petition, that is. |

It's just the hull, extenders and plates do not benefit from the old HP bonus, but they do benefit from the new resistance bonus (an 'Azeotropic Shield Extender' which adds 748 HP is now worth 831 HP, an 11% increase), not to mention that any active tanking modules also benefit.
To quote the great CCP Fozzie:
CCP Fozzie wrote: A 25% increase in armor hitpoints applies quite intuitively: (Base HP) * 1.25 = a 25% increase in total EHP.
In contrast a resistance bonus actually benefits your ships by decreasing incoming damage. So a ship with 25% resistance bonus takes 25% less damage from hostiles. This ends up applying to their effective hitpoints as: (Base HP) / 0.75 = a 33% increase in total EHP.

ok, i was coming to terms with the whole dropships being left out of an hp buff. However i dont understand why they are changing the 5% perlevel to my max shields and giving only 2% to resists. I would have thought 3% atleast if not 5% Im too sleepy right now to do the EHP right now so i ask the question, will this 10% resist give me enough EHP to make up for the shields that i stand to loose? Further more will the skills X multiplier be low enough for me to want to spend the skill points for 2% per level? Why is this not another skill? Shield Resistance proficiency or something? dropships simply cant afford to loose any more hp or they will become truly ineffective. My only hope is that 2 weeks from now they will be announcing that they are increasing dropship hp or EHP to truly match the description of the dropship in the market... |

But lets look at the numbers PROPERLY.
With a maxed-out skill giving +2% damage resistance per level, you get 10% damage resistance.
10% damage resistance works out to approximately 11.11% (it's actually a recurring 1) EHP increase.
11.1% is less than 25%, so when working from just your base HP, this buff is smaller than you get from the current base HP increase.
Because damage resistance applies to total HP, not just your base, this is a buff to people who heavily tank their vehicles. You need to get up to 225% of your vehicle's base HP to break even on what the current skill system offers, but once you cross that threshold, any extra HP you gain provides more of an increase than it would have under the previous system.
For HAVs, the loss of base HP from skill change is negated entirely by the 25% HP bonus, meaning the resistance is pure buff on HAVs. With LAVs, the inability to stack modules high enough to double their HP on either defense type might - MIGHT - justify the 60% HP increase. With Dropships, it's probably a nerf to DPS-focused Dropships, but if you're tanking, this change probably won't significantly impact your fittings. |

It's also a net buff to active tanking and shield recharge -- these effects also gain the 11.1% effectiveness increase. |

I'm kind of multi-tasking right now though, and don't have the ability to run those numbers accurately. HP was easier to calculate. |

What's more interesting is whether or not it is stacking penalized, if it isn't, you can potentially achieve 45% shield resistance with just one hardener on a maxPython.
