Hi everyone, i just downloaded DUST a few days ago, thinking "oh well, another f2p game to pass a little time" and got pleasantly surprised by it's deep customization system.
Having played a tiny bit of EVE i'm somewhat familiar with the concept of fitting, so i can immagine how engaging it can be.
But i'm a little worried of the balancing of it all. I understand that for newb like me there will be a separate starting tier but after that? Will i risk running into a uber tank that choose to deploy his expensive onslaught layout for that match? Pratically having a demi god running around one shotting people?
I mean, is there some sort of balancing system that will ensure a somewhat substainable match? Or will it be possible to be dropped in battles where your only destiny is to be cannon fodder?

 Hello there Raim,

Currently there is a very rudimentary matchmaking system and still often it places new players amongst very high level ones and proceed to get stomped. So expect to see your death toll stay a bit on the high side until you really grasp the game's gunplay and fitting mechanics. Like Try Harder said though, CCP is working to correct this issue, but there are no specifics yet on what or when.

But what will help with this transition is working with Player-owned Corperations. These are the "guilds" in EVE/Dust and there are many corps which are more then willing to help new players. The corp I am with is such a corp but we are by far not the only option out there. Groups like Dust University and Bojo's School of Trades are also great places to look at for guidance.

Feel free to send me a mail in-game if you have any questions about the game aswell. I'm (usually) more then happy to help.

 Welcome to Dust. :)

There is little hope for any lone soldier in this game. Find a good corp, and hit them up to run squads. Don't be afraid to have a terrible KDR, just keep your fits cheap (or free) when you're getting mauled. This game would be unbearable to me if I was worried about dying.
