And, just for kicks, look at the OPs posts. Seriously, just click on his name and do it. Just to see if you think he's slandering the game. Just...Yeah, do it. I'll give you bacon ^_^

Okay.
People seems to think that people having autofire have gone thru extraordinary cheating and haxing means.
Fact is that nowadays manufacturers sell controllers with adjustable autofire options. Actually, joysticks with that option have been on market as early as 1980's.
PS3 is usb combatible device, accepting USB HIDs (Human Interface Devices). Programmable mice work, and with those you can set keypresses on repeat and even define the repeat rate by millisecond(!).
On either of those cases there has been no modding or hacking involved.
Now that means that in modern world there devices widely available which enable autofire. That is a fact we have to accept.
In fps games, it's interesting to have different weapons, including single shot rifles with no charge-up. It is also nice to make it possible to tap real fast and have the weapon fire fast as usually one's physical aim suffers from extreme tapping. At best, that single shot guns are truly skill rewarding guns and intersting to use and be used upon.
But what happens when these two meet?
In a (competitive) game, if there is a weapon balanced solely being single shot and it is still being fired auto, chances are there's a problem. Where's the fault? Manufacturers selling generally adjustable multifunction controllers or game designers not taking them into account?
Answer is clear. As we can't expect all manufacturers to quit their products nor players not to use commercially available controllers, it is the game designers job to design the game so that autofiring won't give noticable advantage beyond comfort.
Not going into details how to fix OP guns (see my suggestions on some TAC AR threads) there are many ways to break the full autofire's usability. But fix to the problem |
