Drop up links run out and I would assume that most people are smart enough to not spawn on the up-link in the MCC. But lets say you only get points for spawning in theDropship, how does that encourage pilots to pick up people who might need a lift? |

It doesn't, but how does it hurt the game to let a 1 million ISK investment earn 400-700 WP in a match? |

Why someone can just enter a game, throw down some uplinks, afk and earn exponentially more WP than us is just baffling at best.
why cant u do this before calling ur dropship? |

We should get a HP buff too along with HAV's and LAV's.
Drop uplinks are usually at tactical locations, a Dropship in the middle of the sky with a forge gun aiming at isn't.
You didnt take my post within its context. This was in a reply to someone saying if we get WP people can "farm" WP by collecting spawn points.
Right now people can farm with uplinks. Yea uplinks are "usualy" placed in a tactical situaltion, in a pub match the word tactical takes on a whole new meaning.
I am really not sure what you are trying to point out in your post.. |

Ok, so we can agree that adding a small amount of WP to MCRU spawns (across all platforms) does nothing to harm the game?
So what we need now is to figure out how to do deployment and extraction bonuses, and how to balance them against effort vs reward. I personally feel they need to only offer a trickle of WPs, 5 and 10 points for various tasks, so that way if you're active and helping your team all match you can actually earn a living, but if you just **** around in the red zone trying to get people to spawn on your ship, you won't be earning much of anything |

what the hell has happened to the DUST community?
Someone voices a genuine concern and a bunch of toss pots jump down his throat to see who can be the greatest forum warrior?
DS pilots finally get some love and the chance to accrue SP thru the Assault class DS, yaaaaay... but to get to that point they have to basically not fly DS....
DS are still somewhat broken as a DUST profession, and profession it is given the amount of SP you can sink into them. |

Obviously I do, I did say it. Do you know how to read? REAL problems like GAME MECHANICS need to be fixed before we can talk about rewarding some scrub who wants to fly around in the sky cause he's too scared to fight. |

And you have to be a phenomenal pilots with phenomenal gunners to even come halfway close to what a run of the mill assault guy pounding it out on the ground earns in any given match |

People like you kill this game... You don't wanna fix the REAL problems you know like AIM a very very BASIC thing in ALL shooters. You wanna fix dumb **** like pilots getting points for being cowards hiding up in the clouds. |

if you want OTHER ....VERY REAL ... PROBLEMS ....addressed.... i'd suggest posting within threads about those Other Very Real Problems.
Derailing a thread about something you personally consider to be less than your own problems is not an indication that you are either right in your assumption nor that you actually know what you are talking about.
What exactly is not a game mechanic about DS not getting enough WP? |

Just ignore him, he's clearly trolling, and this has actually been a very helpful and informative thread. Same goes to the rest of you, us pilots are some of the most level headed players in this community, lets just ignore useless stuff like this and continue working towards keeping this thread relevant and useful.
EDIT: Wrong thread, but I guess the point still stands. |

Be patient. Your time will come.
The reason you're having to wait is that they don't want your time to include everyone skilling into a standard dropship because they've found a new way to harvest easy WP without having to get their hands dirty. Not that I would ever suggest the Dust community might take advantage of such an exploit!! |

Well then you don't even have to be a dedicated pilot to slap one on a viper and hide it on top of a building close to an objective and bank on free WP Dude, you can just fly a viper 150k viper up on any building you want and drop R9 uplinks if you wanted to do that. Why screw an entire profession. I mean, role, because we constantly go in the hole doing our job. Don't get me wrong, I want to be a pilot myself. However, a better way has to be devised than MCRUs. Drop uplinks are not permanent and can be taken out with a couple of shots. A parked dropship is permanenr and if its parked well enough, will cost another dropship to waste to get up there and blow up. Provided of course the dropship already up there doesn't blow you up first. Seriously, MCRU points are too easily exploitable, there has to be another way.
And so you have a timed cap. I don't think DS deserve to get zero reward for a year, because someone might hypothetically exploit half as well as a ground troop could. |

OP, a few things have happened in the past that demonstrates how a few lines of code can disrupt the game. Considering that they previously existed I would suggest they are probably still there. Just the table that returns the value now contains a zero.
If one considers that once I switched from pure Sniper to Logi Bro my placement on the victory boards was consistently near the top. If I found a good Heavy, in that they knew how to be a Heavy, I could follow them around and get good WP from them. I got a consistent supply of +25s, +35s while supplying ammo and reviving anyone that fell close to us. If I was content with that I didn't even pull out my weapon. If I wanted to top the results I used my AR or SMG to flank those that were after my Heavy.
The simple act of repairing damage was then exploited extensively and Logi Bros have a timer limiting WP for Reps, only get one set of WP for reviving a Downer and no longer get anything for repairing vehicles or installations.
For the MCRU the situation is exacerbated by Random Blues that got assists for simply sitting in a Drop Ship or Tank that had the MCRU installed. Remove the WP and pilots routinely removed the MCRU. However, CCP/Shanghai did not adjust what the DS Pilot received they simply zeroed it all out.
We are still in that place because a solution has escaped them. We consistently get posts that state the exact same proposal as yours, without c++ comments, that show their were not around during the Season of the Exploits. To date nobody has actually made a suggestion that did not return us back to exactly where we were before.
Until the time that a proper solution is posted or discovered directly by CCP I am not expecting a change. |

I would like to suggest a special marker, similar to the markers squad leaders have that they can place on their team-mates.
Instead though its time based and automatically placed on those that jump out of your dropship. Under this time you gain officer points much like a squad leader does. This would be effective for all point earnings, except maybe hacked objectives due to possible time constraints. Though that could possibly be fixed by making that an exception where you get points if they complete the initial hack while marked, instead of when the virus is fully uploaded.
The only farm-able situations I see then are when you're doing your job, providing extraciton and deployment. Though I could see a dropship pilot and a bunch of snipers on a building constantly jumping in and out to shoot. Though that seems incredibly boring and I think most people would just opt out for AFKing in the MCC.
Also make the marks automatically disappear if the pilot leaves his seat for any reason.

I think this is an issue of CCP being CCP. The solution is obvious and easy to implement but CCP takes a year to do it because they're working on improving the drawing distance for vegetation.
I'm rather content that missiles now go approximately where they're supposed to. That's already a pretty high mark on my expectations-scale. Somewhere about 20 on a 5-point scale. And they only messed up the aiming on the Assault DS, that could've gone worse. |
