I've been playing FPSs for 20 years, mostly on PC, so keep that in mind when reading my responses below.

With this "mechanism" in place, the game will never be skill based, and the control will NEVER be fixed because of how speed limits works. With speed limits on, you cannot even twitch shoot enemies even within a small angle. Your reaction time is not a useful skill anymore.
Dust is now confirmed to be an RPG and not a shooter. The "first person shooter" experience I am looking for is DEAD.
About time we get different suits with varying levels of movement options. It has been done before, even on PC games. I'm most familiar with Tribes in its different incarnations, and it works, and is a lot of fun. Asymmetric FPSs are difficult to pull off, but offer much deeper gameplay than those with the same characters only differentiated by weapons.
And your claim that turning rate restrictions mean there's no benefit from player skill are ludicrous, and you know it.
Quote:2. Mouse is too good for FPS, so we nerfed it! :CCP logic: So you basically confirmed the :CCP logic: I predicted earlier. Since I am a mouse user, I can not put up with non-sense like this, especially when the control is speed limited in the first place.
Everyone knows mouse is too good against a controller. CCP has to balance both DS3/4 and KBM, otherwise one or both will be unhappy. Controller user base is orders of magnitude larger than KBM users on PS3/4, so KBM has to cater to their restrictions. Live with it.
I've played console FPSs for only five years, and still prefer a mouse. But I prefer sitting on my couch and playing on my 2m wide screen more.
Balancing will be difficult, as it has never been tried before (I believe a version of UT had both, not sure how they balanced it). I would have preferred to have controller only and have the devs concentrate on more important features of the game. |

Not everyone is content to suck and wave the the camera around like stevie wonder trying to hit a target like you controller guys do. I've seen how you clowns play. Don't pretend you're good at it.
Not everyone, but the literally tens of millions who play BF and CoD and KZ and Halo on consoles do, and like it. |

Not everyone, but the literally tens of millions who play BF and CoD and KZ and Halo on consoles do, and like it. The majority of people in this world are stupid. If I believed it was CCP's primary goal to cater to stupid people, I wouldn't be here. OP seems to believe this is their goal, so he is having a negative reaction. It is to be expected. I'm still not entirely convinced they will continue along this route, however. They like to flirt with disaster, but often change course at the last moment.
It's pretty myopic to look at controller users as a group as stupid.
Controller is here to stay, so you can either adapt or quit. |
