My brother recently got a Turtle Beach MW3 Ear Force Delta wireless headset and was having some audio issues. He could hear voice chat, and could chat with me in game, but no game audio was going through (I know this isn't related to your problem, but I'm getting there hopefully). So he asked me to give it a whirl and see if it worked. Needless to say, it works. Here's what I did.
First (relating to game audio issues), ensure that your entire device is hooked up by the proper means. Make sure cables are connected from your PS3 or TV to the receiver supplied with the headset (if any).
Next, go into "Sound Settings" in your XMB and be sure to choose the specific output method that will direct audio to your headset receiver. In my case, I chose Optical. The next screen will show different sound qualities. Select any which apply to you. Click finish and you should hear your XMB sounds in your headset as you scroll through your options.
For voice chat, you will have to either pair your headset with the PS3 via Bluetooth (if applicable), or setup the PS3 to allow communications with the headset. I'm not familiar with wired headsets so bear with me if my information on those particular devices is incorrect. But they should be somewhat similar.
Go to "Accessory settings" in the XMB. If you have a Bluetooth headset, select "Manage Bluetooth Devices". Scan for new devices and make sure your headset is discoverable. When the PS3 locates the device, follow the procedures provided by your headset to pair the 2 together. You'll then see a blue light next to your listed device, indicating that the device is paired, and connected. When done, or if you have a wired headset, go to the next step.
In the XMB, go to "Accessory Settings" > "Audio Device Settings". Here you'll be able to redirect voice audio where it needs to go to. "Input Device" should be your headset. "Output Device" can be your TV, headset, stereo, whatever you wish. You should also be able to speak and hear yourself from whatever your output device is currently set to. If you can hear yourself, then you're set.
Note that some (if not all) headsets where the earpieces cover your entire ear has a feature that allows you to hear yourself speaking through your mic. This does NOT mean others can hear you. This feature is implemented to compensate for the lack of being able to "hear yourself" via your own ears. Because you have something covering your ears, it's sometimes necessary to hear yourself through your headset's speakers so you don't slur your speech. While in "Audio Device Settings", not only should you hear yourself immediately when speaking, but you should hear yourself a second time afterwards. There's also a sound meter bar above that will light up if the microphone is registering with the PS3. If this is the case and you both hear yourself a second time as well as see the sound meter lighting up, then your microphone is set up properly, others will be able to hear you, and it should work in all games.
If this doesn't work in DUST, make sure that voice chat is ON and Push To Talk is OFF in DUST's options screen.
Try all of these and see if it works for you. As someone already said, sometimes it's the simple things that you miss. If none of these worked... well I'm sorry. I've done my best. Perhaps you should get another headset or contact CCP and ask for their support.
Hope this helped. Good luck. |
