Lol. This is why I've been saying this game will fail.
It can't work like EVE. The console crowd is not going to stick around 3 months to grind SP. CCP is trying to add brains to game that should be stupid, quick fun. If ppl can't be on par going in they will laugh and move on.
This is not the EVE crowd CCP. You picked the wrong platform.
I'm probably the one percent of EVE players that will hang on long enough. |

You don't need 10 million SP to have fun. Totaly agree! My stat was in the last skirmish match 37/0 and I have only 4 mill SP. Without boosters. |

Yeah cause the willingness to grind for months equals that said grinder is smarter somehow?

Too funny. I still have yet to allocate a single SP of my 8.8 mil and I'm rolling around in free suits and still go 8/4 or better per game. It's not great, but it's all free. Killed a proto scout with my free suit and free smg... we where face to face, doing the fire dance and I won. Face shots for the win.
I haven't allocated any Sp due to I'm waiting to see what they do about fixing my heavy... which I think they just have.

This feel like someone messed up is skill distribution.
With that much SP, You can get proto suit with armor plates and shield with proto guns with even gun prof. with some grenades and some core skills And even side weapon skills almost to proto
Anyway, you'll always have people with higher rank than you do. But from that point, it is more a matter of skills than the few dissadvantages you got.
Between 2M and 10M I would agree, but the gap is closing when getting over 5M, that is if you specialize.

6 million SP here, I've got a prototype DS with prototype shield extenders, prototype shield booster, prototype shield amplifier, prototype power diagnostic units, and prototype missiles. In 300K I'll have prototype blasters too.
By the way, have you ever explored the possibility of getting decent all around rather than getting a tac duvolle and a caldari proto logi suit and then realizing you have no other skills? |

SP is over-rated. They can give a great player an advantage, but without player skill its still useless. Look at the differnece in damage between proto and militia gear. What? 10%? Plus another few % from skills?
The only real advantage from SP (and thus equipment) is in health. You can legit double or triple active health. However, doing so will leave you with a lot less speed (only way to massively boost health is with armor plates). I maybe added 75% to my health with two complex shield extenders as an advanced scout. But I still have about the same health as a standard assault... |

Thats what I tried to do, I have an advanced assault fit and I pumped the rest of my SP into core skills. I still need about 3mil more SP to get where I want to go but I'm about halfway there and its working out pretty well for me.
Hey Twisted202 why don't you tell the forums what you actually put your wonderful 6 mil SP into? because I think you made a mistake by dumping all your SP into a specialized suit and if you screwed up and dumped your SP its your fault, not the games. |

Exactly. Core skills + advanced suit to fit some proto + advanced mods and weapons is pretty cheap, and isnt too far behind proto suits.

Exactly. I do agree with people saying that theres a huge gap between new players with only half a mil SP and no corp to help them. They're are just going to get torn to shreds and leave/
But 6.6 million is more then enough to make you competitive and then some. |

Yes, there is a new player issue for sure. Though I think that has more to do with the elite corp pub stomping and no matchmaking than skills and loadouts. A militia nade, militia AR still do a solid job of tearing apart most suits.
But a new player joining a game where an elite corp just stomps with 75 clones left at the end? Not fun. And the new guy has no idea that the reason it happened was because the other team consisted of two full squads, one from Imperfects, one from Pink Fluffy Bunnies.
Plus the lack of a super large playerbase means if they just play again right away they have a solid chance of playing with those same players... more stomps. Then they leave and never come back. |

I think you made a huge mistake by wasting 5mil to get into a spec proto suit instead of building up your core, weapon, and armor/shield skills |

I think this is really less to do with the items in the game and more to due with the squad heavy nature of the game. Even in straight MLT gear I think a well organized squad would pubstomp a unorganized MLT squad. This is the main reason why I support creating a WP tier system because by the time you get to 50k WP you should have a pretty good handle on the nature of the game. |

Or you could just have a "Training Gametype" with vastly reduced ISK payouts. Maybe slightly reduced SP as well (maybe not though). Payouts of 20K-50K instead of 200-500, good players would stay away, without the need for any sort of automatic filters. New players would see training, join it, and not even realize they are getting less ISK and/or SP at first.
Also, no stats would count for it. Eliminating the desire to stomp to pad stats. |

I love how these Seraphim Initiative guys have quit, but still come to the forums of the game that they hate and quit. THEN they boast about their skill, and tell you not to put yourself ABOVE them, when, in fact, they're quitters of a BETA. The irony is staggering.
I've only been playing for 4 days and I've killed more than a handful of them several times. Seems they're too focused on points and not reflexes. How many of you Seraphim tools uses a controller? I'm willing to bet more than a few.

So, you're unwilling to do what the "good experienced players" did to get the SP you insist is required to compete with them, but the perfectly reasonable skills and gear people are recommending here will only beat "scrubs" and therefore will not satisfy your e-peen.
Sounds like a self-generated problem to me. |

Will only beat scrubs? Um no. Look at the simple math between proto and advanced gear. It helps. But a skilled player using pro it versus a skilled player using advanced isnt a guarentee by any means. The advanced user can still easily win depending on the context of the fight.
Honestly, just look at the numbers, the advantage isnt much, not enough to make it a must have. |
