Alrighty. We, 0RCS, a squad in battle in a FW game. What the French (WTF) had three squads -- one squad on our side and two on the other. All of WTF's squads fought hard (on both sides) and there was no evidence of collusion or sabotage but it did make me consider the potential issues of allowing a corporation to sign up on both sides of a FW battle.
Honestly, I'd love to see actual faction standings as in EVE. You keep hiring on to one side long enough (or playing both sides), sooner or later a faction would see you as an enemy. While I don't expect it to go this far, I still would like to see corps restricted to choosing one side or another in any FW match. Having squads from the same corp on both sides is silly, but worse, can and likely will result in exploitation.
Again, WTF played hard on both sides and I'm not suggesting they did anything wrong, only that the ability to do what they did will almost assuredly result in shenanigans by corps sooner rather than later. |

If you had WTF on your side, you should be happy. They are great players
You clearly missed the point of the post. First, it's faction warfare I am referring to. It's not really queue synching. You simply squad up and choose a side. Have enough people you can fill up the whole battle with just your corp if you are quick enough.
Also, I said exactly what you said at the end. I love playing with WTF and against them, too. They in no way took advantage of the fact they had people on both sides. Both sides of WTF fought hard.
The concern is for the less 'honorable' corps that will abuse the ability to join both sides, especially since these are battles that have repercussions. Sabotage is a fact of life in New Eden. Not everyone will abuse a bad mechanic, but eventually enough will that it's important to try to identify such problems early.
As far as instant battles and queue synching, I could care less. It's random. If it happens it happens. Instant battles are just there to keep the masses entertained and for making ISK and SP. There have been TK'ers and AFK farmers destroying the balance of these games, at times, but whatever. I'm talking specifically about faction warfare as it works currently. |
