Hello All, Many of you have had the pleasure of witnessing me crashing 1.8 million isk in assault dropships lately. im in the process of trying to relearn how to fly. Some things i found are intereseting:
1) As you begin to accelerate the nose begins to point downwards and it takes an act of God to pull it up, 9/10 doesn't happen and i crash.
2) While flying, if you switch between 3rd person view to 1st person view the Tilting of the nose with the controller reverses. caused me to lose 2 ships this way.
3) The damage output on the nose cannon is pretty good, could be better and really only *good* use ive seen is taking out installations and the occasional tank if they are stupid enough to sit still.
4) The controls are very sluggish and im fighting the camera more and more it seems.
5) Seems the Assault varient (caldari to be specific) has a forward momentum built in. Kind of screws with a little bit.
6) still cannot equip shield extenders which is why from today on i will not be flying until it gets fixed. Ive spent about 15 million so far testing for CCP. I know i will not get reimburssed but its ok, im testing.
7) Overall i think the controls to need to be a little looser and still needs to be looked at. Average player will ragequit at this point IMO.
I like the idea of what you guys are trying to do but as of right now, it needs some love. |

Cameras annoying but my original complaints with the controls are gone now that I've adjusted to them. And extenders are a must on the ADS, get at least 2 of them on there, preferably with an afterburner and booster. Since I've gone with that slot layout, my losses went down dramatically. And your right about that forward momentum thing, it seems to constantly drift forwards, good for accelerating but bad when your trying to hover. |

As far as the lack of sheild extenders on your DS goes, you just need to be skilled into the right areas to earn it, right now my Python has 2 shield extenders, 1 overdrive injector, and 1 shield hardener. My CPU and PG are all in the allowed amount, not going over because i also have 2 CPU extenders equipped for my low slots. Also am using a AT-1 Cycled Cannon on the front of it and 2 AT-1 Accelerated Cannons. This makes my shield go up to 2,500 and when i pilot the Assault Python i can't find too many issues. The height limit has been raised about 3x what it was, and if you use an over-drive injector it can reach some nice speeds, and handles very well. By using the over-drive injector it basically acts as a replacement for the propulsion units i would normally use in the low slots, but have replaced with the CPU extenders so that i have enough room to have 2 sheild extenders in the high slots as well.
As far as handling goes, you have to anticipate where your DS is going to drift towards, because when you hang turns it is a pretty heavy drifter, however there are easy ways to counteract its tendency to drift, just turn in the direction you're wanting to go and shift the DS away from whatever object you're coming near to and it will usually, 90% of the time successfully avoid those obstacles. However, trying to accurately dog fight other DS's is a little difficult, the missile on the front of the ship should be changed to a medium turret, i know they don't exist yet... but they should, and for that purpose. |

The current prereqs are wrong.
They're listed as ground prereqs when they aren't. Hopefully they refund those SP if you decided to purchase them lol >_< |

well to be honest I haven't found any trouble with it and its remarkably balanced for its role so first and applaud to CCP *claps*
it does seem like it has some forward momentum but I counter it by R3 back, although this forces me to use red tags and my crosshairs as aiming rather then sight I`ve gotten used to it and I`ve gotten 1500 WP and 10 kills in some battles when fighting infantry.
my issue is the crash mechanics, 4 times it has turned on its side or upside down while on fire (where its falling un controlled) and by its positioning to the ground its impossible to eject.
also 1st person isn`t that good, I did a lot more A2A and it messes you up more then not, 3rd person is the way to go, 1st person is only to shoot into those 7 yard high towers where there's a sniper really. Cycled is the best choice I`ve found, 1 time I noticed my Compressed rail gun latterly shoved a ship several times when I hit, I will test it out again....
barrol roles and backflips are so much better in the Assault variants, I love hitting the ceiling repping my shields then back flipping into a nose dive.
bugs in genrial: DS is 2x it should be (they said it was halved several times), Vehicle engineering should give +5% to total PG on vehicles but only saves 3% CPU on PG modules (they are fixing) also only 1x this build (2-3 times total in the past 2 builds) gravity kills me, I just plummet to my death, I`ve noticed its in OMS where installations fall BUT AFTER they spawned I destroy them then it happens.... trying to do this again to see if my hypothesis is right, and the flight ceiling for Assault DSes seems to high, I think they should be able to escape by flying high and away (diagonal position compare to the FG) but since its a low flying ship it shouldn`t go right above them and be to high.
some tower lights can be seen in near valleys but the buildings can`t, there's a huge city in the distance as well as a smaller one and a river I`ve noticed.
small railguns NEED A BUFF in direct damage.

I've been using the gallente assualt dropship and have come to enjoy flying again. I use duel reps passive hardener and a damage mod with a fragmented at-1 missile launcher on the front and 2 accelerated at-1 on the side. The tank holds well though I feel its something ill have to watch as people spec harder into av weapons.
First with the fitting screen UI can we get some sort of indicater telling where the diffrent turret slots put the turrets making it easyier to mix match turrets. Maby I white line draw from the slot to the vehicles picture showing where it goes.
The flight ceiling I like yes for assualt dropships it seems high but only on maps that don't have tall buildings the biomass map I tested the flight cealing with and wasn't much more then shooting distance from the top of the towers giving I was fighting to keep the dropship from flipping over and falling to its death.
The aiming of the bow gun is tough though the dmg is good. The toughness of aiming the front gun I contribute to the views 3rd person veiw u can only use the tickers its hard to see peoples graphics. The firstperson view gives no awareness of where u are ur elevation or ur tilts making it near impossible to fly and forget shooting since u can't tilt the turret and have to look straight at ur target this means no hovering as looking at the target means tilting ur dropship forward which then makes it go forward throwing the aim.
Other than this I'm very pleased with the dropships and am glad we pilots who have asked for a pilot turret since early closed beta have finally gotten are wish and it rocks |
