I've noticed a lot fewer snipers since Uprising. I thought it may have just been me. I actually became accustom to snipers on maps. After a while, they didn't bother me as much and Manus Peaks had become my favorite map only weeks before Uprising as a heavy or logistics. |

So you can't use your exploited mountain range anymore, so suddenly snipers are useless?
Everyone cried about that mountain because YOU could snipe with impunity and NO ONE could hit you back without being very, very lucky. You relied on that without realizing it, and now you actually have to move when you shoot to keep away from counter snipers.

BTW sniping seems fine to me not sure what you're talking about...
I'd like to know what you are talking about. . . You don't have rendering issues? You can still see all the structures from one end of a Skirmish map to the other? You don't see anyone teleporting running or far away? You haven't noticed people shrug off 2 headshots and keep going? The sniper is having more blue-shield effects than before, you aren't?
Because that's what is happening on everyone else's end, or are these just not problems to you? |

But I do support the idea that you should be able to do what makes you happy, and this has very obviously been an infringement upon you. I do not support CCPs move on this even one iota. Snipers did add to the dinamics of the game, and as much as I effin hated seeing you @$$ monkeys up on top of that giant mountain, I respected it as a legitimate tactic. Sorry to see you go.

Hmm, I found my tactical sniper rifle a bit under powered when uprising came along.
I've had to skill into a big of extra damage per shot (and the damage mod). On some maps I notice there are choke points as the enemy moves into a new area to dominate an objective. This is a great place to keep picking at them. If you hit once or twice and they aren't dead they are still engaged with closer players and you can finish the job after a reload.
I've also gotten better at holding an objective. As long as it isn't gang hacked I can usually pick off lone hackers and keep the thing from falling into the wrong hands.
If you play to win the map, or at least play to have a measurable effect if the rest of the blueberries suck, it's fun. I've never dominated with top of the chart numbers so I don't have that as a letdown to ruin my fun. As long as I generally give better then I get I'm happy.
Oh yeah, I'm still sporting the dragonfly suit and don't have the suit role bonuses yet either.
To the OP, adapt a bit. It's probably a lot different that it was... but you can find new ways to get the job done as long as you aren't only happy with KB/M driven 30/0 type scores. |

I never had problems with Snipers up the mountain, gives the game more challenge when out fighting on the field. I specially enjoyed fighting other snipers, trying to kill the other one before he kills you, my adrenaline would always go up when I'm up against other snipers on the other side of the map.
But I do hate the SNIPER TANKS up on the mountains, specially on Manus Peak, no one can get close to them, but when the Dropship Flight ceiling has been raised UP, and the addition of Assault Dropships, the other side can easily call in those so they can get close to those tanks.
I wish CCP would give us back the old scale map where it used to be HUGE, and bring back Manus Peak, because that map just doesn't feel like well, Manus Peak without that Peak. |

No, It's not about that. It's about the fact that there are no positions that allow us to take good battlefield over watch. I could care less if its accessible by other players, I'll just kill them as they come to get me |

Depending on what map you are on there are some very good places to have a good view of reds within reasonable shootin range. These are places where an enemy sniper will find it very difficult to be in a position to counter-snipe. Good times!
You don' t have to be perched a mile high to dominate a region of the map (get many kills and disrupt the enemy) as opposed to dominating the entire map. |

I am still sniping no problem. But then again I was never hiding in the mountains in the first place... so this does not apply to me at all ;) |

I have only been playing this game for almost two months, with 2.9 mill sp total. I was able to perform any duty required of my team. I could snipe but wasn't great at taking out mobile infantry. I mainly focused on counter sniping when i noticed an enemy sniper was doing some real damage. I loved the challenge of finding that sniper, then sneaking into a good spot and taking him out. That was probably the most fun I had in this game... Some of the sniper battles I've been in were pretty epic. Each of us afraid to move for fear of the other ready for us to pop out from behind cover. The only thing that should have changed is the headglitching/ blue shielding problem, not take out the spots all together. Another thing mentioned all over this post is the changed dynamics of shooting the SR. It may take some getting used to, but it's not something i am really enthused enough about to keep trying it. It seems as if though i am going to have to become a skilled assault player that can "outheavy a heavy".

I never saw snipers being in remote places as being a "negative". My problem was with snipers getting in redline/etc. places where you literally couldn't approach them on foot without dying to a hard-coded game mechanic.
The other big problem is the texture/terrain glitch, and it struck a lot harder when attempting to fire "up" at snipers in places like the mountains (that the OP remembered fondly). Sniping logically calls for counter-sniping, but there's an inherent issue there when you can't actually return fire because your rounds will hit invisible barriers. There's a similar problem when Sharpshooter and a weapon like the Thale's could give an opponent a huge range advantage.
Those sorts of things combined with things like sniping "inside" the redline area. Maybe the OP was a solid sniper, I don't know. However the spirit of the "hard to get to" snipers isn't really there when it's impossible to pursue a person deep inside their redzone, but they can pick you off with ease with an officer rifle while benefiting from a texture glitch that blocks shots at the same time.
I like sniping. I didn't see the "fix" as flattening the mountains though. They need to fix the texture/terrain/collision elements of the game. However, all I've noticed post-uprising is my characters getting "stuck" on terrain all over the place, like I'm running into invisible bear traps. I've also noticed at long range, enemy snipers sometimes won't even render, meaning you can't do something like... aim at their head. The game's a mess right now, they have some work to do. |

I have played a lot more skirmishes recently, and I have indeed noticed that past 400m I can't render any players. This, coupled with the poor over watch on many maps makes me almost redundant in skirmishes, so it looks like I'll be sticking to ambushes for the time being. The aiming is feeling a lot better the more I've practiced with it though. For all of you having trouble with sensitivity on the DS3, I've found X:60 and Y:50 to work well! |
