To reduce the movement speed penalty from Armor Plating. Was hoping this would be implemented in Uprising, but it wasn't.
Shield Tanking now has a skill to increase to efficacy to Shield Regulators, further reducing the delay before their shields start recharging than the module's base value.
Think this is slightly unfair to us Armor Tankers who have our movement penalty no matter what our skills look like. One Complex Armor Hardener on a suit is okay, but two - let alone on a logistics suit - is MANDATORY SUICIDE.
Edit: Also, hail Jeff Hanneman. You will be missed. |

I don't want that... I want the full HP bonus with less movement speed reduction... We have this in Eve Online, we should have this in Dust 514...
At current, you can go with Armor Plates that give more HP than Shield Extenders, but Extenders don't have any drawbacks... It's easier to shield tank as it doesn't -REQUIRE- an Armor Repairer or a Logistics player with a Repair Tool.
I mean, the additions will be welcome for the spare low slots that I don't have any other use for after the first plate, but it shouldn't be mandatory that I take less HP to get the reduced movement speed penalty. If that's the case, I might as well just shield tank.
Edit: Just saying, if I can get 'x' amount of HP from Shield Extenders with certain skills and that value is the same as these new Plates that still have 'y' movement speed penalty - I'm still at a disadvantage because I'm getting the same HP value but still receiving -some- movement speed penalty. It's a never ending cycle. |

It's a never ending cycle. I agree with the intentions outlined in the OP however I feel like this is exactly the choice for shield vs armour. Complex armour gets almost twice as much hp as a shield extender and it doesn't use as much PG/CPU.
Right, but you're forgetting that it's -MUCH HARDER- to repair without Logi support. 115 HP + Armor Plating level 5 = 126.5 (give or take) which with a single Complex Armor Repairer (level 5 as well) takes 20 seconds to repair ON TOP OF the armor from your suit.
EDIT: Now, I'd be cool if the Amarr Assault Suit got a bonus to Armor Plating efficacy and the Gallente Assault Suit got a bonus to Armor Repairer efficacy (such is their racial philosophy) rather than the useless ass 5% bonus to Shield Recharge Rate per level. 120 HP worth of Shields is pretty useless to the Gallente Assault Suit, especially considering that it's standard variant has NO HIGH SLOTS. |

Delirium Inferno wrote:Right now I'm running a Gallente Prototype basic suit with 2 enhanced armor plates and 2 complex armor repairers (that's like having half a basic repair tool fixed on me at all times) on my low slots. That is supposed to be a 10% movement penalty, but honestly since the speed nerf it's hard to notice that big of a difference between that and when I switch to my free suits. Plus I'm loving the bonuses armor has over shields (no grenade that can wipe it all out in one bang, constant repairs instead of delays for recharge, getting revived by nano injectors gives you 0 shields and a percent of your armor, so you come back stronger, etc).
I would like more armor skills though. I was thinking something a long the lines of a high slot module that could sacrifice your shields to quickly repair your armor. Though something that requires Armor Plating 5 as a prerequisite and reduced the movement speed penalty could be quite cool. Not sure how that would effect balance, but I would be down for it.
And I absolutely agree that the 120 shields is pretty useless for Gallente players which makes Assault suit quite frankly a dumb choice (no matter how sweet the Prototype Assault looks). Even if you get the 25% shield increase from the core skill, you are only sitting at 150 shields. I'd love if it were switched to something that could instead help my 450 armor.
See, it's worse that than though - the Gallente Medium Frame increases the shield recharge rate. Even with all skills level 5, it's just not nearly as useful as it could be if it's bonus was role specific. I'm about to post up a thread requesting a change to the Frame bonuses as it's sort of senseless. |

Issue with it is that it doesn't directly impact your survivability.
Movement Speed is everything in a FPS - if you can't move out of the way of the incoming fire, no amount of HP is going to save you. |

I -really- like this idea and it would definitely have more of an impact on the Amarr Assault Suit which has more stamina than any of the other Assault Suits - but oddly enough have less armor/movement speed. |

1% increased sprint speed still gives you 0.37 m/sec faster sprint speed. It's not much, but in the end you're still better off than without it.
Reducing 10% to 7.5%? I would get it to level 5 in a heartbeat. |
