What's the point of having weapons and classes if an entire squad can be xounteted by one guy with a viziam and damage mods? Or if you can drilld by an assault rifle before he's in range of your much bigger chain gun? The list goes on... but basically it defeats the purpose of the game to have the ridiculous ranges we saw in the last build. |

Because Sharpshooter made them cry. Though they are so scared of range because of SS that they don't want even base weapon ranges to be decent. |

Range was never the issue, it was the fact AR's had 0 recoil and were still dead nuts accurate at range.
But I like how this build is done for all weapons other than HMG |

If a guy with a viziam is drilling your squad, you would be able to fire back. Thats the neat thing about bullets that don't disappear -- you can have a weapon that is effective at range but isn't invincible.
Unfortunately, simpleton Dust players have trouble wrapping their minds around that concept. |

Why is everyone on these forums terrified of the game changing even when it sorely needed it. This is a new stepping stone that will have it's own bumps and pitfalls. Man up people, its far from "ruined" or "broken" but does require you to play a little differently.
It's amazing how quickly people forget how trashy some past builds were. Nostalgia I guess. |

SS was broken, shouldn't have existed, taking it out was one of the good things about this build. The nerf on range outside of SS is the problem, and the additional nerfs to HMGs, MDs, and Lasers were overkill. |

Not terrified at all. I can hang quite well, still.
The problem is that it isn't fun to do so. If I am doing everything correctly and successfully, but it isn't any fun to play because the mechanics are ****, why should I be ok with the status quo?
I was not born with a **** in my mouth and I feel no need to be supportive of every decision CCP makes on their own.

Max range with SS should have automatically been applied to every weapon. The game was completely functional when everyone was skilled out. In the case of HMG's, all that needed to happen was a decrease in accuracy at range, not a complete stop to how far the bullets could travel. That's a joke of a solution in a game about guns. |

I must disagree I guess, hit detection problems are entirely gone, aiming is smoother and more responsive, the sprint strafe allows for more realistic maneuvering from cover to cover and I don't feel like a tank on legs walking around. closer engagements lead to more intense and decisive fights instead of two blobs wailing on each other from 50-80m. The reduced scan ranges on suits leads to more cat and mouse back and forth that I'm enjoying honestly.
I'll give the lowered weapon ranges are startling to get used to and were likely taken too far but we shall see what happens, we should be used to over nerfs that are brought back up in small increments by now, like has been done every build cycle so far. |

A large part of the problem with the Viziam was totally unrelated to the range it could hit. Sharpshooter proficiency didn't help, but it wasn't the only problem.
Removing range bonuses from Sharpshooter, and limiting it to specific weapons is a GOOD CHANGE. It's an improvement, not a fail. But they DO need to increase the range on almost every weapon by a decent margin. EVERYTHING has had a hard range nerf by the loss of SS, and should have been tweaked up by at least 5%, maybe as much as 10%. HMGs got a range NERF instead, which was utterly ridiculous when the only time they were a credible threat at any kind of range is when they had SS maxed out and were a few steps into Proficiency. |

And ARs with the stacked danage mods. Those were my two biggest complaints. But I agree the sharpshooter removal wss necessary, but some of the weapons got hit overnerfed too (HMG). I see the current set up as a reset while they try to make everything stronger at the same time to prevent an overabundance of one ot two types of weapons this build, and even though Iit pains mr to say this as a HMG usrr, I'm ok with it so long as wr get some feedback on the ongoing changes. |

It's the issue of the game sucking. See: Every other FPS in existence. Does not do this. Why? Because its a dumbass idea and it pisses a lot of people off. Last time I checked, Halo wasn't all that realistic. Frankly, neither is CoD or Battlefield. They still don't do idiotic things like make their shots disappear.

Bullets disappear all the time in Halo, just at longer range so people don't tend to notice. |

The only people who take issue with hitting a smaller target are unskilled scrubs who suck at every game they touch and are looking to Dust to level the playing field so they can feel relevant.
Sorry but if you suck you shouldn't get a free pass. That sort of defeats the purpose of competitive gaming.
And no, forcing the engagement closer isn't going to make you a better player. You should get that delusion out of your head now. |

The removal of SS, and range nerfing, has forced a lot of players to engage at extremely close quarters.
This has proved bad for quite a lot, as they have now realized that they aren't as good as they were previously, where they could kill at great ranges.
As a result, people have lost a lot of fits, and are crying about it.

The counter argument to this being that only people who REALLY stink at the game have a problem with hitting a bigger target. And blah blah blah.
Seriously though the game was dominated by proto lasers amd vk.1/b-series assaults running duvolles. Where is the diversity in that? Where is the potential for the sandbox going if everyone is forced to use the same bucket to make their sandcastles?
If you are seriously so butthurt that you can't admit/realize that they changed everything to accomodate styles of play other than proto lasers and duvolles hyped up on damage mods and sharpshooter you probably won't last long.
