I know the shooter crowd and the console crowd is not used to things taking so long, but to start with the change to the Drop Suits and go from there...
1). The game before today was a beta. it needed to be a fast paced advancement through the tree to test all the items. Now that the game is live, it is slowed down to normal advancement. Just be happy they let all the testers keep their points at all. This is the first beta I ever played that did not wipe on release.
2). I know the people who have only played Dust and only ever plan on playing Dust might not care directly about Eve, but they are a symbiotic life-form and the system now cannot exist without them both. That being said, the suit advancement is not unlike ship advancement now. The basic drop-suits are like tech one ships and the specialized suits, logi, assault, etc. are like tech 2 ships. Being in the beta spoiled all the testers with the speed. Someone starting in Eve would not dream of getting into a tech 2 ship for at least a month and that is just the ship, not counting good weapons and support skills.
and finally,
3). I have been playing Eve for about 7 years and I just recently started having the ability to use most T2 ships and most items. That being said also, there should be no doubt about Dust being a long term career game just as Eve is. I personally am glad they extended out the advancement so much and added so many more skills. the sense of advancement and achievement will be all that sweeter. |

You can PvP or not PvP - you can just fly around and enjoy.
Dust is ALL PVP. If you suck you suck and there will be no fun for you here. So if CCP fucks your class over - HTFU cause there's nothing that can done about it.
The game being in beta this long should of been a sign that CCP has no clue what's going on. This build just magnifies that. 1 more week till people really start raging. |

good point. i'm pretty sure they did say in one of the podcasts that they had a goal in mind that endgame would take a while to see.
well until they add more gameplay options ( besides PC and FW ) this game is just a pointless FPS grindfest. even though i really do enjoy this game, I can't play more than 5 matches before getting bored of it. hell even MCC'ing feels like a chore now. |

It sucks NOW. Who cares what comes in 6 months if I'm going to hate getting there? I already have since june of last year under my belt of this stupid non-sense of CCP ******* over my class, Logi-LAV, and everything I enjoy. They can't release decent maps but brag about having a map creaotor, they can't come out with decent gear spread for all classes but brag about how much they can do with it. They don't do anything for game modes but talk about how involves players will be in the battlefield.
There's a ton to hate - there's a ton to call them out on that was promised ages ago and should be here.

I agree with SoTa PoP. After playing so many builds this is what we get? This game should not be releasing this month because itGÇÖs not even close to a finished product. ItGÇÖs amazing how CCP has attacked both the scout and Heavies and made them irrelevant. Not only did CCP ruin the HMGGÇÖs, but they also screwed up the Forge Guns as well. Why does my Forge Gun have to blind me when I charge it up and how am I supposed to figure out when itGÇÖs fully charged? Who asked for that friendly blue circle to be removed from Forge Guns? I donGÇÖt get the spawning in Ambush either. ItGÇÖs ten times worse in this build than the last one. I literally had matches where it was putting me in the same spawn every time and I was getting destroyed.
IGÇÖm very concerned about new players as well. This game was brutal to new playerGÇÖs last build, but if CCP doesnGÇÖt give these guys a decent tutorial or start implementing a match making system this could deal a devastating blow in growing the Dust Community. If I were a new player trying to play Uprising I would probably quit the first week out of frustration. The worst part is that even if a veteran shows a new player how to use their skill tree it wonGÇÖt be matter because theyGÇÖre so far behind in SP. I could grab any new player right now and try to teach them, but the first thing I have to tell them is that they need to have 4 million SP in order to be competitive. Who has that kind of patience?

Don't worry he's lying. Technically you can be shot and killed anywhere, but in high sec the "Cops" will shoot them right back in the face and insta kill them. So ya, it happens but everyone doesnt run around shooting everyone in high sec, it's just something that's possible.

-New progression rate
Cool! I like it. People have to WORK for a specialisation, and it'll take a lot to build into a secondary role.
-New skills and passive bonuses
Great! ...when they work, because a lot of vehicle skills currently DON'T work. But the ideas are nice.
-Buffs and nerfs
Mostly reasonable enough, apart from the aforementioned vehicle skills, which I'm sure isn't intended, but is a harsh nerf nonetheless. The HMG got hit WAY too hard with the nerfhammer again. You'd think they would have learned after the last time they broke the gun. It's not even remotely close to being fair right now.
-New Controls
It's cool they give us some presets now, but none of them is ideal for me, and I'll still be waiting for ACTUAL control customisation. Also, why only LAVs getting R2/L2 movement controls? I want that for my tank. Acceleration is nice, but NOT when it's forced with no ability to adjust or remove it. Turning Aim Assist off breaks CQC completely. Mouse control is screwed - and while CCP admit mouse control is screwed, they haven't specified the problem they know about, of which there could (should) be several, and if they don't fix ALL the problems, it's still going to be broken. I've also noticed input lag quite often with the mouse, and occasionally on the sixaxis as well.
-New graphics
Really nice. I do like the look of Uprising. But I'm not sure the reduced FOV is worth it for the upgrade. It's restrictive, it makes everything feel smaller, and it gives a lot of players motion sickness. We need AT LEAST Chromosome's FOV for the game to retain its epic feel and sense of scale. |

Oh, there is security in place. There are sentry guns and NPC police forces in Empire space.
But they aren't there to protect you. They're there to gently discourage people violence-ing your boats, and to avenge your death after their discouragement fails.
They aren't psychic. They operate just like the real police. They respond to crimes after the fact, not before.
It's entirely possible to pop someone in the highest security space, if you've a mind to. You'll probably lose your ship over it, but pop them you can!
Nowhere is "safe" in EVE. Just safer. |
