You said you don't like one line complaints that give you nothing to work with, so I'll give you a list of problems and possible solutions and you and CCP can see about fixing them.
Problem - - - HMG's are really, really...Bad for lack of a better word. They've been hit hard, and repeatedly with the nerf bat and it really did destroy the Heavy suits in the game. I thought I hated Heavy's as a Scout Sniper (Always took at least 2 shots to kill) but the truth is I relished seeing them on the battlefield, as they were truly the only things that gave me a serious challenge.
Solution - - - Give it back its damage at least, if you felt its range was a bit much that's fine, but fix its damage because it shoots cotton balls and (soft) dog turds. Keep their suits costing less, that's a good thing. No need for them to not be monsters on the battlefield and yet have expensive suits.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Problem - - -Nerfing speed across the board was downright appalling, ESPECIALLY to a scout like myself, but Heavys who move at lol m/s are really getting raped by this if you're a heavy and have no cover to get to...Well damn, you're SOL aren't you? Lowering it across the board causes a massive problem to the frantic, fast paced combat that the FPS side of the game is supposed to deliver (It's hard to be fast paced when EVERYONE is slow) and even lore wise it makes no sense, since we're supposed to be genetically enhanced soldiers *Cough* Spartans *Cough*
Solution - - -Buff Speed for everyone, Varying though. Scouts +10 - 12%, Assault +8%, Logi +8%, Heavys +5%. I know CCP fears making everything too powerful in case of power creep but right now the entire playerbase is getting punished for...Playing the game!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Problem - - -Weapon Ranges, Again across the board (Detecting a pattern?) Now, I know the Duvolle was kind of a sniper rifle before, but the range didn't have to be nerfed to...Fifty meters!? A real life AR - 400 meters, this is futuristic, not to mention the other weapons, obviously HMGs, Mass Drivers SNIPERS (<---Wth?!) etc. It kind of feels like CCP decided they'd been working too hard and went ahead and just halved the range of everything. Again, another obsession with power creep I assume, which is the only way I can justify CCP's actions without just assuming that they're being malevolent and hate their players.
Solution - - -Do some research about Real life weapons, Figure out their ranges, double that to account for futuristic advancements, increase map sizes to compensate for longer ranges, problem solved.
This is all I have so far but I'm sure the community will have some better worded and more detailed criticism. Note that if you post here, you should include problems AND solutions so that our CPM can work with CCP to fix them, instead of just venting and crying about our frustrations and inevitably being ignored. |

I would, but since I'm still updating my client after 10 hours, I've been unable to play the build.
Criticizing from hearsay wouldn't be good. |

That's probably true, in that case it wasn't directed at you. Only the people who take it upon themselves to QQ, but when offered a chance to help or change something, stay silent. |

You raised good points. +1 for trying.
But the forums are on fire right now, a lot of people making threads, so the good ideas will probably get lost without being noticed.
Wait a couple of days. |

1. HMG I already have on my red list of something to verify and research, just right now game is still downloading but from the looks of it based on scenario based feedback the gun has really fallen out of favor or need in an environment containing every other weapon just about.
Right now there are couple solutions on the table that are being looked into and maybe considered. A number tweak is most preferable over adding in a new skill at the moment. Maybe tweaking the function of holding down the trigger or something there are quite a few paths to go down on fixing this. Just remember CCP makes the final decision to fix this or not or how they fix it.
2. As for speed I haven't had a chance on this build yet to see how it all works out, it was really odd in fanfest but nearly unnoticeable had if it been changed at all. I am going to have a hard time scrubbing up chomosome stats but if you can find a place where I can get the old movement speed stats I'll be happy to use it in my research. Overall we're moving amazing fast for most people but the map size is massive in comparison to shooters like halo or call of duty so it feels that not a whole lot of ground is covered.
As for fix a generic buff will be required as you suggested possibly balanced out properly.
3. I will ask nicely not to bring lore or IRL into the argument, as I can nearly counter with just as much lore or IRL. With that Lore/IRL removed it does seem possible based on some complaints that the AR managed to get over-nerfed vs every other weapon's who's range was also reduced. This will take hands on experience to actually see if the AR still fits in the entire puzzle of things. Overall in my experience at the fanfest, the AR was freakishly brutal against everything netting me 17-0 in one match of the tournament. Which begs myself the question WTF happened.
Additionally the other thing is also get the AR renamed as its not a real AR in the its use, this would break some player perceptions over it. Overall as usual there are plenty of ways to skin the cat if it needs to be fixed.
I thank you for your feedback, it has been most helpful, and I'll add the speed issue to the list of things to explore. |

There's surely more than enough data after this much beta testing for them to get the balances as close to right as possible.
If there isn't, well ****, it'll probably always be ebbing and flowing in one direction or another. |

True you guys are generating bug reports, graphs, numbers, data, and the sorts its going to help CCP immensely over the fan fest build in identifying the more easily missed balance concerns. |

The only thing I really have had any issues with are the bugs that were introduced.
I'm assuming they'll be ironed out to some degree in a week, so I'm not really that worried about them. |

I'm also still updating my client. I keep disconnecting for some reason so it's taking awhile to download, the problem is, it starts over, it seems every time I hit about 20% it takes a chunk off the download but if it disconnects before it gets around 20% it starts over, not helping that my internet is being used by others right now slowing me down a lot.
Anyways, I can't wait to play it and offer my thoughts here. From what I read, it seems CCP needs to stop hitting the heavies with the nerfs so much. A lot of people seem disappointed. I hear the aiming is awful now, and some say it's better than ever, I don't know, it certainly looked better on the videos I've seen. I'm in for the long haul though, I know one day, this game will be amazing. EvE took awhile but it got there, and Dust will too. |

Oh, they care alright...they want to make lots and lots of cash.
I honestly don't think we'll see a viable version of Dust until it hits more powerful hardware. It's too ambitious for the PS3. The creaking game engine will attest to that.
This build is serviceable. It's still way short of being a top class shooter but it's much more playable than the last build.
There might be a ton of imbalances and so on but I think that's to be expected at this point. |

1 CCP is a company
2 CCP is not EA
3. CCP has crazy ideas and dreams and would like to accomplish them so having good foundations or fixing them constantly is part of the agenda.
4. EA has been trying to destroy CCP for a long while now after the last insult. |

Then I'll chalk this day up as a victory for the future of Dust514, regardless of whether or not the new build was disappointing, at least we're moving forward to making it better. Or something like that.

As much as i would love to see weapons in dust scaled of real life things its impossible... The gallente AR is plasma based, it super heats plasma and uses a containment field to project it, there fore it is only as good as the containment field that houses the plasma charge which is only good for about 50 to 60 meters before the plasma cools and dissipates.
The gausse rifle and the caldari sniper rifle would be the most OP weapons in this game as electro magnets are only limited to the amount if energy you can jam through them
You just cant compare real world weapons to dust as we dont have a definitive understanding of how they work
If if followed physics the gallente ar would have a range of about 3 feet and thats pushing it Also if we had plasma based weapons today you would probably die if you shot it |

Good thing Dropsuits and Enhanced Clone tech allows the user such abuses! Nobody else seems to have personalized shields not even other non clone tech vehicles. |
