I suppose we all knew they would do it eventually... they where just too much fun to drive, ride in, and blow up... and apparently too much fun is a bad thing for a game.
So now we yet another vanilla shooter. What could have been the game changing factor for Dust (vehicles), turning it into a revolutionary success, has been reduced to something that is just going to upset the players.
I have spent a good deal of money on Dust so far... but I can guarentee you that I, and many more, will not spend a penny more on this game until CCP takes HAVs seriously.
Here are a few changes I have noticed, that break the HAVs.....
1. Bug that doesn't give you your PG bonus with engineering skill... This is fixable but hugely embarassing for CCP, and if it is not fixed well before the 14th, CCP will have totally screwed up planetary conquest and will be dealing with hate mail for months (a great deal of it from me)
2. The biggest a most offensive changed to HAVs is the skill points required to spec into it. It now requires about 50% more SP to spec back to where I was in tanking. Carapace armor hardeners are now extremely expensive SP wise.
3. The cost is even more ridiculous. CCP said they where making the HAV modules cheaper, but the turrets more expensive... well what they really did was basicly double the price of turrets, and reduce ONLY A FEW of the vehicle module prices by 10K isk here and 20K isk there.... overall the same tank from the last build will cost you about twice as much ISK in this build.
4. DEATH FROM ABOVE!!!! Well I hope you like losing isk!!! Cuz thats what HAV piloting is all about now that your tank cant point upwards enough to defend against AV naders and forge gunners sitting JUST BARELY out of your vertical range. So... how to beat a fully fit pro tank? Jump in a militia suit with some militia AV nades and a militia launcher, post yourself pretty much anywhere on the map at least 30 feet from the ground... now your militia gear will suffice to take out even the strongest of tanks... since they will not be able to point at you... NICE BALANCING CCP!!! YOUR FREAKING GENIUS!!!
5. Aiming and damage is totally screwed too! CCP seems to have completely redone the aiming system, so now your 80GJ blaster cant hit the broad side of a barn! No literally if your in a scout suit you will move plenty fast enough at walking pace to dodge the accuracy of the new 80GJ cannons.... Oh and even though the damage is shown to be the same on the module description, it is clearly not.... either the dmg has been nerfed as well or the accuracy has been nerfed so bad that I am only hiting 50% as much as before.
6. Invisible swarm launchers!!! Ok not quite invisible, but they might as well be. Tiny tiny tiny orange (which blends with the map) dots coming at you are very hard to notice, exspecially with how fast they are now.
7. Installation turrets that look like they are not moving, or facing the other direction.... ARE ACTUALLY SHOOTING YOU! How freaking awesome is that... in an effort to get better framerate CCP has totally screwed up what you see and when you see it. If you are a good distance away from a rail turret, enough to see it and enough to get hit by it... it is very likely that you will not see which direction the turret is actually facing, or if it is shooting.
8. Scanning.... impossible. Common sense would say that if your dropsuit has a built in scanner, that your tank would have an even better built in scanner (because it has more room and power DUH), but it doesn't. So combined with the fact that you cant point up, and cant tell if that person is an enemy or not... you are going to have a hard time figuring out where your getting hit from, and what you should be shooting at.
9. Magical push off of tanks... what is this magical force that is pushing people off my tank? I didnt know the Eve universe had magic.... I thought it was more realistic... you know like being able to ride ontop of a tank for transportation or to heal it while its moving.... so now all your teammates have lost interest in staying with your tank and following its lead, because they cannot get ontop to keep up when your moving fast
So in the end CCP has likely upset nearly all players who use tanks. Some of which, like me, will take a lot more winning over to get back as a paying customer.
Nothing will satisfy me except fixing all of the above issues... completely.
I hope that anyone else who uses tanks will join me in an AURUM BOYCOTT until these issues are NOT ONLY repaired, but we are compensated for the aggravation.
