They really should increase the base optimal range to make it more realistic. There are World War I battle rifles with better range than our sniper rifles. I'm sure you could say the same with modern assault rifles compared to ours, but then again, ours shoot plasma and have incredibly low recoil. |

I think the old range was a bit too much (redline snipers killing each others across the map) but 400m seems a bit too low. |

It was over 800 before, and so much for the 2,500 m/s , this really is a joke HAHA.

A sniper friend of mine got all giddy in our first skirmish. I asked him what his deal was and he explained that he shot at an assault, the assault turned around and unloaded on him, but didn't have the distance to land a single hit. Almost everything has be "adjusted" in uprising, and we all have to step out of our comfort zone and adapt to a different style of play. |

I agree, I think a better range would be around 600, and no more, at least the sniper role of area denial will exist then, because right now it doesn't.

PS, as it is now, I feel I have no need to be a sniper, I would rather do another respec and wait for the new weapons and try those instead as a logi, maybe get in the field for a change. HAD I KNOWN IT WAS GOING TO BE CUT SO BADLY |

A little update here,
I've noticed that the range is not quite what it appears to be : ref: OP, I can shoot DS's at 700 mtrs + and see a drop in shields so the issue is not the shooting distance but one of visibility of the targets.

Longest kill with a Sniper Rifle: 500m+. The range on the gun hasn't changed.
Sniper Rifles deal less damage while people have more health. What has changed is an increase in EHP across the Medium suits (While the Gallente Prototype Scout Suit has less EHP than the Type-II Scout suit from before), with more effective shield enhancers. Another change is that without Weaponry's +5% damage is that you feel like you are doing less damage since you are. There is also an "optimal" range, when past that does less damage. I think it may be around 100m if not less. What should be 188 damage per shot (Kaalakiota Tacticle w/ Proficiency 1) does not deal out 564 damage a clip like it should. This problem occurred in Ambush matches. While within the draw-distance. I believe the draw distance is currently 100m-150m.
Sniper Rifles' zoom can be used to see enemies, but unless they are already engaged in combat with your team you wouldn't know to look there.
Sniper Rifles have been assigned the role of Support Fire. |

Where has the range boost gone for sp investment in sniping? Before respec I could hit targets 800+metres away, kill most and damage any heavies. I enjoyed the anti sniper battles, but now the range has been cut to a stupid distance. Snipers excel at long to extreme ranges (750 to 1000M+). Modern weapons can operate at almost twice that distance. |

The draw distance cant be 10-150 mtrs, MAYBE for foliage, but if you can see enemies at 500+ that also tells you that it cant be 150 mtrs or less. The problem is I just dont see the targets at 450+, they just do not show :(

Correct, no more sharpshooter skills that increase range, they're gone.

One-Hundred Meters. Can you see those enemies, without your scope, without another team-mate looking at them, letting you know they are there?
Whatever the distance is, I know that from atop the pipeline about "E" on Ashland, I cannot see the boxes and other types of cover on the platform that has "B" on it. what distance is that? if doesn't feel like more than 100. |

The Sniper Rifle is an area denial weapon, it is designed to keep an enemy from using a specific area of the battlefield or deny them the ability to cross certain sections. Right now our Sniper rifles do not do this. Range should be pretty good, especially as the map are going to get bigger. If a sniper is on a ridge across the field it should be hell trying to get across that field and get him, and yes, I hate getting sniped, but lets have a somewhat relistic system, ends up being more tactical and lots more fun. Damage, I was fine with it in the last build, this build, well, not so good, needs a little buff, 10-20 points maybe? should be able to 2 shot a medium frame suit of the same tier as the rifle, just as a note so the AR users do not think this is overpowered, the standard AR does 34 damage per hit at 750 rounds per minute that is 425 DPS fo the AR so, even a heavy will drop if you hit him with all shots for 2.5 seconds. it tok at least 4 or 5 shots to kill a heavy with a sniper rifle in the last build. more in this one as many as 8 so far that I have seen. And we are talking same teir suit/weapon. Base sniper rilfe does 209 damage and 50 rounds per minute that is only 174.16 DPS just so you can compare. AR 425 DPS Sniper Rifle 174.16 DPS |
