A few questions:
- How far into the update do you get? - Where are you located? - What kind of internet connection do you have? - Is your PS3 connected via a wired or wireless connection?

About 30-40% (However, the total download amount goes down each time; 1.2GB, 1.01GB, 870MB, 674MB, 370MB etc.) Australia Hybrid-Fibre Coax Wired
It looks like it's actually downloading properly, but the percentage progress just seems to be resetting to a new starting point. |

It seems to be working ok for me, so far... I think the numbers are just screwy cause it's keeping track of the multiple files that are being dl'd also, but the client is not making it clear... I'll post again once successful, or if it doesn't work at all. |

Resets for me as well, but the overall size of download gets smaller. Actually got d/c'd so I reset my ps3. Once i was able to log back in, it continued from where it left off. I'm assuming the slow download speeds are due to the large number of people doing the exact same thing and the overall slowness of the PSN. Stick with it fellow Dusters. o7 |

I was getting this, but taking heart from the fact that the total download was getting smaller each time, so I assumed it was carrying on where it left off previously. It just finished downloading the last 25MB segment for me, so chin up guys.
It was stopping anywhere from 10% to 80%. In UK, on Virgin cable. Wired connection to router. |

Update: it worked for me ok. The total download/install time for the new client was abot 30 mins on a 20 mb connection... I believe the starting number was 1.2 gigs (which kept dropping), so keep in mind that will take a while to dl, mercs.
During download, the numbers and status bar do jump around quite a bit. I'm just guessing, but it appears the client is trying to keep track of the multiple files being downloaded, not the whole install, so that's why the percentages/mb/yellow status bar are all over the place. The update could use an update, for better clarification :)
I'm in my merc quarters now, so all is good so far. I think people just need to be patient. |

Ok so heres what I think its doing...... the total patch as a whole is 1.2 GB roughly. Normally (for what its doing) there should actually be too download bars. One shows the percentage of the SPECIFIC file that's being loaded, and the other shows how far into the OVERALL download were in. However someone done messed up and the UI seems a little off to people...... Basically if one File is worth 20% of the whole download, the bar will load up to 20% of 1.2GB and then reset to zero, however it'll cut off the downloaded amount from the total number on the far right. So 20% of 1.2GB is about 220MB if im not mistaken, this means after the first file loads, the bar will reset to zero % and the GB to the far right will cut down to 1GB or less (remaining) to be downloaded.
In short...... nothings wrong (atleast not yet). |

it took me roughly an HOUR from hitting the "on" button on my PS3, to actually getting into my merc quarters. first, you download, then install (all on your PS3) then you "client update" all of that data agin. then you can play. be ready for it. after the update, it only takes a couple of minutes to get back into the game after quitting.
like i said, be prepared for at least ONE HOUR of downloading, uploading, and client updating. |

Yeah, that's what I took away from it, too.... UI needs seperate status bars, one for individual files, one for the whole install. People are getting confused, thinking it's not working, when it is. That's not to say other's aren't having a real problem dl'ing, just that I didn't experience one.

Hi guys, me again!
I checked into the download "restarting" thing with some other devs, and what you have been seeing is normal behaviour for this client. The download % will reset to 0 as it completes each file, and the total MiB / GiB remaining will decrease.

Cool, thanks for the confirmation. Might want to consider a temporary sticky on this? It's only 2pm PST, I would expect a lot of U.S. people will starting asking about this after they get off work tonight, in the next 5 hours or so, especially if they are on a standard dsl connnection:
http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/calculate/downloadcalculator.php
a 768kbps connection will take something like 3.75 hours to dl, and people will start complaining to the forums if they don't know what's up, since the status bar isn't working properly.

What about the constant disconnecting?
It's been 21 hours trying to complete the install...I can't get passed Updating game client 828 MiB, I keep getting disconnected.
I rebooted my router. I have quit the game and restarted, many times. I have even deleted the game and tried a fresh install, and I'm still getting stuck Updating game client.
It's not my network speeds I downloaded the 2.7 GiB game in 20-25 minutes, and have no problems downloading large files from elsewhere. The problem only occurs once I connect to Tranquility. It will be Updating game client until it gets disconnected. The most I have seen is 20%, then disconnect. It happens if there are 4,000, 2,300, or even 85 players connected.
I've even put my PS3 on DMZ and I'm still getting disconnected during the 828 MiB portion...
Any advice or help??? |

If you have managed to get as far as the 828MB remaining mark, but are having issues getting further then it sounds like the connection between you and the Dust CDN is a little flaky. It *should* get past it eventually, since it was able to get the first 400MB of data files (the full amount is 1.22GB).
What kind of download speed are you seeing reported by the client? |

0.0 B/s the speeds have ranged from 667 KiB/s, up to 3.2 MiB/s in the begining, but now it only registers 0.0 B/s (which is OK as long as it doesn't disconnect and keeps increasing percentage)
it is now at 12.29% of the 828.20 MiB |

I had to switch from wireless to a direct wired connection to my router...
For some reason (might just be me) the game client would not update via wireless. It needed a direct cable to the router. Hopefully this helps someone else... |

One thing I've noticed. Seems that signal strength is VERY important. Check your signal strength in the network settings. If its not 100% try moving it closer to the router to see if that helps. So far, it seems to be working for my old PS3 which was having fits before. |

Cheers Mindstar Shouldn't it be like the patcher from last build? I remember if there were new maps, a patcher came up and showed 2 bars: one for progress of the current file being downloaded, one for total overall downloaded.
Right now, the current patcher serves to confuse the players. You have a TOTAL PROGRESS BAR, but it resets after every FILE BATCH downloaded.
Instead of this: (current) 0% (Total left: 1500MB) -> 12% (Total left: 1500MB) ----> "reset" -> 0% (Total left: 800MB) -> 24% (Total left: 800MB) ----> "reset" -> 0% (Total left: 400MB) -> 64% (Total left: 400MB) ----> "reset" -> 0% (Total left: 24MB) -> 100% (Total left: 24MB)
You should either have 2 bars like explained above.
Or switch the bar to current batch download:
0% (Batch left: 700MB; Total left 1500MB) -> 100% (Batch left: 700MB; Total left 1500MB) -----> "reset" -> 0% (Batch left: 400MB; Total left: 800MB) -> 100% (Batch left: 400MB; Total left: 800MB) -----> "reset" -> 0% (Batch left: 376MB; Total left: 400MB) -> 100% (Batch left: 376MB; Total left: 400MB) -----> "reset" -> 0% (Batch left: 24MB; Total left: 24MB) -> 100% (Batch left: 24MB; Total left: 24MB) |

Yes mine is an old 60 gb PS3.
For those still having issues, have you tried putting the PS3 in the DMZ on your router and/or deleting and reinstalling from scratch?
I hate to recommend a delete/reinstall but I did it, put PS3 on DMZ in router, and connected directly to router and it worked. Remember there is a bug that keeps resetting the status bar, so as long as your moving from 1.22 GiB > 1.0 GiB > 828 MiB > 639 MiB > 339 MiB, etc...you are moving in the right direction. |

I think the problem is partly the older style PS3's. Both of my slims DL'd no problem. I eventually got the older PS3 to download wirelessly by setting it close enough to the router so the signal was 100%. Also, put it into a DMZ not sure which helped more. Anywho got it updated. Just think CCP might want to investigate this. |
