I initially launched dust, and the update started. The download went off without a hitch, and the new uprising client started up.
After the move screen displayed it moved onto to playing the movie, I hit start to by pass it (seen it!) and the Dust loading screen that woudl typically have me hit start again is where the crash hits.
It is a hard crash resulting in the PS3 beeping and me having to hard restart it. The PS3 then has to chekc the file system for corruption, and it passes.
I then deleted all game data, and the client.
Re-downloaded the beta client and patched it.
Then I get the same outcome.
For shite & giggles I let the movie play all the way through.. and same outcome.
so basically, after updating the client it results in a hard crash at the start screen.
SUX0Rz!..
Anyone else seeing this?

error messages are better than your PS3 getting hard crashed by the game client!
At the start screen it beeps twice and then shuts off. The power button displays a red blinking light that you manually have to press to make it beep and then reboot.
At this point the PS3 does a file corruption check that takes abut 5 minutes. It's just frickin disturbing!
I am trying various different things to see if I can finagle past it, and will post anything I figure out. |

I think this is a seperate issue from the one the original poster is having we should probably start a new thread for this. I too am having this issue. |

CCP it is extremely disappointing how your development team has consistently allowed for errors, flaws and bugs to ruin this moment for we players who have dedicated months of time and energy into this gaming experiment. You should be deeply embarrassed by this failed launch. It's been years in the making and this is what a week from game release looks like? You have failed. I'm very upset and disappointed. If this is not resolved I fear you will not loose myself or others as fans of the amazing universe you have crafted but the respect and esteem earned with future works. Titles as WORLD OF DARKNESS and Dust Expansions. |

while it sucks to have problems- it sucks worse to have a whiny ***** try and hijack a productive thread so they can cry.
take it somewhere else... I, for 1, am interested in solving the problem, and giving CCP the information to help them figure it out as soon as they can.

More info:
I don't really play any other games, and it was time to clean things up anyways- so I did a quick format on the drive- but it didn't help.
I logged in with another PSN account, patched the game there... same issue. However, this time I spammed the start button an managed to see a screen with an error message quickly pop up before it crashed. It flashed by way to quick for me to read it tho. It was a split second and CRASH.
so it may be that I can not communicate somewhere and then it kills my client side in a bad way.
More info about my set up-
I have it hardwired through a router (hasn't changed since closed beta) as well as 30+ Mbps internet. All the downloads of the client and patching worked pretty quickly.

the downtime was extended by 1 hour, pay attention there is like 20+ threads related to the downtime..

To give you time to download the update while you can't play anyway. Some people might have to download for hours based on their connection speed.
As for those having odd issues or crashes, the startup sequence changed a bit, so if it's not like that either I wrote something wrong or you've got some version issue (i.e. something went wrong):
- PS Move information screens.
- Unreal Technology logo.
- CCP logo/animation.
- Dust 514 logo (short movie).
- "Unable to Connect"/retry? message. |

My problem persists.
I guess I will wait for PSN to release the uprising build.
CCP! Can you do me (and anoy other potential player sin the same boat) a favor, and make sure Sony is spot on for tomorrow?

FWIW- the PS3 I had issues with is a 1st gen. not sure if that helps nor matters.
In any case, my ps3 was long in the tooth, and I read the newer ones are quieter (and boy is it quieter than the OG PS3). So I just got a new one.
Dust works greaT! MY Gf's lil bro is going to put a new HD in the old one and see if it works. |

My roommate has a first gen and is having the exact same problem.. happens during the sync, farthest it made it was %86..
The fact that they are first gen and having the same problem is a clue. |

i think i'm getting the same issue. i also have a 1st gen ps3. I usally get about 4% into the synchronising process before getting one of two messages either:
An error has occurred while attempting to download content for DUST 514. if the problem persists, check your router configuration to ensure you can access the internet.
or
data file updates currently unavailable. please try again later.
I know that the router is fine as i'm able to connect to the ps store

My system is on the same router with no problems other than freezing which is unrelated.
What is it about those first gen bricks? Mine is a fat but not first gen.

I suppose the only other thing to do is to try the full uprising install when it gets released on the PSN store. If not, fuk it will have to be a separate patch. I hope they figure it out and get you guys in! |

It hasn't even been 24 hrs, this kind of stuff is norm for big updates it will get fixed. Whats gonna suck is if you guys hav to wait til the 14th for a fix

yeah i'm not too worried at this stage, theres always a few bugs to be ironed out following a big patch, which exactly why CCP have done it before the official launch. we are beta testing the game after all. i will be a bit bummed if i cant get on before the launch though. |

The update download was prompted when i went into the game, and after the patch download was complete it informs me that the game has been corrupted hence i can't play the game unless i delete it and re-download the game via the PLAYSTATION STORE, hmmm can't remember what internet connection i have but i download it via wifi network. And after the download was complete i tried to install the game and after installing 1% of the game i get an error saying the installation can't be completed, and so i have to download the game again and hopefully when i head back home from work i can install it properly  |
