Firing up Uprising for the first time, I notice something off about the Move safety screens. They look different, although I can't place why.So I try my usual hammer X to speed up Move prompts trick, and it doesn't work. The hold PS button menu also gives you a Quit Game prompt where none existed before.

tl;dr - Dust is using the Move screens, which are normally displayed before a game starts running at all, to background load the game.

We still need dev confirmation for this though.

EVE and Dust run on the same server, known as Tranquility, if EVE goes up, Dust goes up, and vice-versa.

That is not true at all. They have separate downtimes and they can keep one game offline while other is online. Every dust extended downtime can happen while eve is already up and running. Get your facts straight. Dev posted announcement that dust goes up at 15:00 GMT. Read it and understand it.

EDIT: I know why they looked wrong now, they're switching down to 720p when the original screens were displayed at 1080p. UPRISING DOWNGRADING VISUAL QUALITY OF ENTIRE PS3 OS CONFIRMED ABANDON SHIP.
The font on the Move safety screen seems to be different. That's why it looks different.

While the server may go up, we can limit access from the different clients differently. There are some special services that we will continue to update after TQ opens to EVE clients, but also after large patches like this we like to have time to log DUST clients on and check to make sure everything works OK.

You guessed right! Although when set to 1080p the PS3 does render the OS at full 1080p, and the Move safety screens are usually displayed prior to any game-specific resolution changes. So joking, but still right.

Thanks CCP
SoxFoxFour! To be honest, I didn't know about this and was wondering if there was something about EVE and DUST being slightly different when I tried logging in right after a downtime one time and was able to get onto Tranquility from EVE but not from DUST. (Later I found out there was extended downtime DUST side and now I know that CCP can restrict certain clients.) |
