Oh I'm sorry, did I exaggerate a bit? My passion is infantry vs infantry, so why can't I enjoy that too without having a tank ruin an ambush match for me? Using my assault AV fit reaps little rewards, mostly loss. Unless I can manage to take out several tanks/vehicles, usually all I do is tickle tanks all match long and end up getting killed by infantry slayers, then spawning and getting killed again because my team is getting steamrolled.. rinse and repeat. I get a garbage payout, garbage SP, and usually take a hit on my KDR (since I can't kill squat with swarms and crappy sidearm vs dedicated infantry vs infantry players). Apparently tankers get what they want, so why can't we infantry vs infantry players get a small break? Why would you be against an ambush mode without tanks?

My passion is stomp Infantry, but I can't enjoy that as there are things that will counter me as well! Then your problem is not the vehicles, but the rewards, which I fully support, AVers need better rewards to make it a more viable profession to specialize into, same with many other Tankers, we all feel specialized AVers don't get rewarded for the job they do. If they take out my 2.3 mil tank, they deserve ateast 1/2 of that.
Perhaps you need to look at what you're fighting when using your swarms. Armor tanks are your prey, not Shield Tanks, you need to learn that, you are the counter to Armor, that's why you tickle other tanks, we don't take nearly as much damage from swarms as armor tankers. It also seems to me you are playing without a Squad, which again is an issue. Matchmaking should focus on putting Squads together and Solos together, not putting two squads on one team and the solos on the other, it's bad.
I refuse to even acknowledge a mode with vehicular restrictions, in Uprising, Vehicles are becoming a specialized class really, anyone you see with a proper tank won't have any infantry skills, as all the core skills that we once shared are being separated. You cannot play DUST and expect it to protect you from other elements of the game. I can't ask CCP to give us an all Vehicle Mode nor a Infantry only mode, we can ask for maps that heavily favour one or the other, but note a mode with those restrictions.
What you really need, is a map with indoor areas, so that you can escape the vehicles.

Actually, an all vehicle mode (tanks vs tanks) would be pretty awesome I think. I come from games like Warhawk, first thing I did was pure dogfights with the hawks. No infantry, no tanks, just hawk vs hawk dog-fighting all the time. It was amazing. Then I moved onto the more complex modes, which included every class possible (infantry, tanks, jeeps, turrets, and hawks), which changed the gameplay drastically. Required more teamwork, clans, organization etc. I don't see why there shouldn't be a tank vs tank gamemode, I mean when I see freindly players bring in tanks specifically to battle enemy tanks, I think "That is the proper role of a tank, to take on other tanks and vehicles". But tanks vs infantry is just so... no offense... cowardly. Most players in ambush are not prepared to take on a tank, especially one with the experience you have. Ambush players want to fight other infantry players, it's the natural role of a TDM match in a FPS. If i want to fight tanks, dropships, LAV's and organized squads and go for objectives, I will play skirmish. The thing is, even if AV offered a decent reward, that is not my preferred play style. I like fighting other infantry. When I want to enjoy the other stuff, skirmish (or OMS) should be my choice.
One thing I noticed, you call players who use Tanks against Infantry cowards, and believe Tanks should only fight other tanks.. If all Tanks did was fight other tanks, how would anyone use tanks? You may not like it but Tankers need to destroy infantry, this creates a fear for them so that there is a reason to have a friendly tank on your side.
I take no offense, I play a role in DUST, which is a giant target in DUST, everyone wants me dead because I'm deadly and if you don't destroy me, I'll destroy you.
If there was a Tank v Tank mode, it would be like having an infantry match with Snipers only, there is no true goal just destroy ****, it's not fun and it's just very expensive. If there were separate modes for these I'd hate the game. You can't compare DUST modes and vehicles to other games either as it doesn't cost in other games, there is no risk if you lose your tank in WoT, there no risk if you lose you Hawk in Warhawk, just respawn and do it again.
I understand where you are coming from with what you're saying, but I don't agree. Making a separate mode for vehicles (Which again, if you check the skill tree, is now it's own class that takes a shitton of SP), means you separate some of the player base from the other with ridiculous restrictions that shouldn't be in place for a game like this. Again, I really want Infantry based maps where Tankers can't be used very effectively, with indoor areas that link up, and underground sections and such to dodge from air combat, but you cannot have an Infantry only game mode when Vehicles take so much to skill into.
If the vehicles didn't require such skills and anyone could use them, sure, but it's not the case. Your choice is simple, Adapt or Die, as many people keep telling us Tankers (Despite us whining about the fact our Rails are ridiculously strong and it means we become Rail Snipers, we're told to do it anyways -_-)
On the plus side, the better Tankers will be in FW and PC as Ambush doesn't pay enough. |
