The other thread has bugged like a bug, so here goes again.....
Basically, in short, can someone please explain to me what's going on with all this 'refund' drama? I've read the threads and announcements, but I'm not getting it. |

People are being picky about some poor wording by CCP in the purchase agreement for the closed beta merc pack. They're upset due to the measure that CCP has decided to use to refund the merc pack, namely you can get it back if you want too, but you have to be reset to do so. In some people's opinion(and CCP's) this is the fairest way, as it means people won't be getting any extra AUR or the sp they might have gotten through the use of boosters. In short it prevented people from getting twice the amount of SP for the same amount of AUR. Other people see this as grossly unfair and CCP breaking their word, and that they should have refunded the merc pack/found a better solution.
In short, everyone would have been a lot happier, if CCP had been clearer on this issue, both in the merc pack description, and in the last few months of confusion. |

Just to confuse issues but I believe in Announcents the Uprising Skill Respec Dev blog post they defined current price as the price of items after uprising has been installed e.g current price of Dropship is say 500k and when uprising is installed the price of that dropship is now 250k and you have 100 of these dropships from salvage then you will be refunded 100x250k and not 100x500k.
Unfortunately it appears "current" means prices on the Uprising market and not the chromosome (update) market.

They took a massive **** on some peoples happiness with that one. It's not a proper loophole, until Chromosome, CCP planned to have a full character reset on launch accompanied by a refund of all merc packs and aurum, and the descriptions on the merc packs etc were written as such.
The problem occurred when CCP decided to be nice to us beta folk and scrap the final launch reset, letting us keep all our SP etc after launch, the general understanding was that this also meant no further merc pack / aurum refunds, seeing as CCP would no longer be removing them or any benefits gained from them - but of course some people are just ridiculously self entitled and decided that they want CCP to give them extra stuff for no reason, f*cking over any players that didn't buy any merc packs in the process.
The only solution to this issue that is fair to all players is the one CCP went with, give people the option to get their refund under the initial conditions, namely the previously planned reset. |

Re post 30 of the Dev blog. "if we have changed any prices, then those will be the prices used" CCP Eterne This does make sense, you can still buy back all your original items, but you can't try to be clever and turn one dropship into two. |

I've started to get into the habit of using Ctrl+A and Ctrl+C before hitting post.
And if I get a 404 (which seems to happen after writing for more than a minute), I just hit back and paste and repost. |

If you spent all the aurum on boosters you get to keep the skill points earned. If you spent the aurum on tanks and suits thinking you would get the aurum refunded, well you arent getting it back. Those must be the ones who are upset. If they ask for an aurum refund they will lose the skill points acquired with that aurum. fair enough.
Most of us used the aurum for boosters and will be happy to get a jump on the skill points. |

OOOOOOHHHH, NOW I get it! This kind of explanation is what I was looking for! Would be better if it was actually true.
The assumption that there was a reset planned for release was just that - an assumption. It was never officially stated that there would be a reset on release, and the Merc Pack terms directly stated that there would be a refund of Merc Pack contents "at every reset and for the commercial release", which means that, reset or not, there's a refund of the Merc Pack on commercial release.
After many discussion threads, CCP have somehow decided that it's a good idea to be "fair" on all the people who decided not to help them fund the project in the early days by shafting early adopters of the Merc Pack, and are saying that now the only way we can get our promised refund is if we give up all our SP and ISK while everyone else gets to keep their own progress without penalty.
Some of us have been - ever since they announced "no more resets" - trying to get them to provide an ACTUALLY fair solution.
Giving us back everything isn't fair, I can agree with that. But they CAN refund us the full contents MINUS BOOSTERS. The Booster the pack came with? If you used it, gone. But you still have the SP, which fits the requirements for "similar value" as stated in the Merc Pack terms. Any Boosters you bought with AUR and used? Also kept as SP on your character. if you want them back, take the full reset. THAT would be a fair solution. What they're offering is either NOTHING or we lose everything. Both options involve shafting the people who were some of the first to pay CCP for DUST, and as such, we helped to fund the development of the game. |
