Will there be a new respec with every new content update? Is it safe for a scout or heavy to spec into the current suits while waiting for the racial variants they want? |

The main reason for the respec is because the skill system is drastically changing. Also, a lot of the new content coming up will probably be streamed in, not all released together in one big update so don't expect another respec. |

That'll be many months worth of wasted SP just to play the game at all while we wait a half year for them to finish releasing the content we wanted in the first place. |

We have no information if there will be a respec when we get the rest of the racial suits and as far as I know CCP is "no comment" on this. This may be the only case for a respec in the near future.
In the future there won't be any, except in cases when they rework the skill trees and even then only in special cases. |

The thing they did in EVE is when they Changed something in the skill tree or deleted a branch, as it were, they refunded the SP & ISK related to that now deleted Skill.
I would seriously doubt if they are going to do this on a regular basis and I would definitely Not Count On It.
If you take a look at the new Skill Tree (Dev Blog Post has a spreadsheet of it) you can see that new items can be inserted as they see fit and when they see fit. Also, they can prune a branch without having to redo the entire Tree like they had to do this time.
If you really want to wait for a racial variant ... well, skill into something that you can enjoy and save SP while you wait for the version you want to show. Past that I don't know what else to recommend. |

I truly hope CCP has its SlHT together come release, there is no way in hell they;d release an incomplete game... right? Maybe those poor souls who still wish to run heavy and scout can wait till the release and see their options.
They'd not release an unfinished game. No way.

I mean once the game is complete then I'd expect no resets. But while there are still things like...
(Not) Amarr aircraft to spec into, players who may want to use those are faced with the choice of prematurely spending millions of SP at 10x multipliers all over the place just to have something to do
Or basically quitting the game for a half year and waiting for the content to releases |

Yeah but that's Eve, which was more or less a finished game revising content.
This is Dust, an unfinished game, with a premature superficial 'release' and 80% of it's skills not in the game at all yet. |

The only respecs I could see happening as the games moves on is if they reduced/increased the Training Multiplier on a skill. Say Weaponry goes to X to X+1 or X-1, I could see CCP refunding the points in Weaponry.
However, CCP has been brutal with EVE in the past. Who here had to get Science to 5 in order to use probes only to have it reduced to 3 later? The only mass refund I have ever witnessed is when the Learning skills went bye-bye and everyone gained like 4ish million free skill points.

the good news is that racial variant dropsuits are so expensive, you would probably be safe waiting anyway. It sucks that there isn't a "Caldari Heavy" yet to placehold for the "Caldari Sentinel". But no big deal. Skill to ADV in something you enjoy and hold there for a while. Work on your extremely expensive new core skills, like Armor and Shields.
Finishing the racial suits should be the next big push because it's the most obvious missing puzzle piece for new players and press to pick up on. |

No, EVE started out pretty much like DUST, not a lot of content or tools and nowhere near as many skills, ships or entire play styles that EVE has now. But in EVE you don't stick to one ship or ship class, you train into a crazy amount of things, things that may not have existed the year before.
