What people ARE DOING and SHOULDNT
-"This game sucks, you just nerfed the crap out of Insert item, now the game is totally unbalanced and Insert other item will pwn. You suck."
What people CAN and SHOULD do:
-" I just read the patch notes and to be frank, it seems that a huge unbalance is about to happen. If we consider "Reason 1 - Reason 2 - Reason N!" we can presume that it will interact in a negative way with "Gameplay element 1 - Gameplay element N!", and as someone with experience in FPS shooters, i must say i-¦m quite distressed by this.
Please take those point by point elements into consideration before implementing the patch, or at least focus on the numbers after the change, so we can monitor the situation and see if it-¦s going to be unbalanced on the scale that i alerted."

If you want less angry players I recommend you tell your balance team why a bunch of people will be quitting next month. They might want to hear why their theory around power creep isn't really panning out as well as they thought it would. Sure thing, but posting takes 1 minute and tweaking way more than that. In order to release a patch a buff or a nerf, we have to work on it. What will be released is something that ends a cycle of tests. During this period we are testing already for other contents and future tweaks.
With all respect. Just don't work in the game by listening the cry people in the forums. Because you won't never have a progress in the game. People that can not fight against something will cry for a nerf or for a buff of something that they like and you will change everything. I don't like to live in the past but the best example is the AR. Even if we play in a futuristic world like 10 000 D.C, you put iron sight that Hittler used in the Second War just because people complaing about the "central weapon". You screw the Tactical AR, the Breach AR. You change this weapon so many times that it looks like you have not idea of what kind of weapon do you want. Then you see a lot of post talking about Mass Driver so you buff the weapon. IT WILL BE THE SAME WITH THE FLAYLOCK PISTOL AND THE SCRAMBLE RIFLE, FOR SURE. Just don't listen to the people at the forum and do what you want because as an AR user, I can say that it's so FU%&/K annoying when you change and change and change a weapon and I need to adapt all the time just because people cry. It's easier to cry instead learn how to play.
Please CCP, use this build as a "BASE" for the future of the game. Stop making 180-¦ changes. Be sure you're more intelligent that the most people at the forums. Don't listen to the cry people.

Your English was fine, and the content was good.
I'd like to see more frequent FAR less drastic changes to weapon balance, but I know this is a big milestone/release for CCP. I reserve most judgment until the 20th or so...Most..I hate HMGs but I'm worried they will suck too much...we'll have to see I guess.

I would just like someone from CCP to at least give an explanation for the range and damage reduction.
As it stands now, my Logi is a more effective combatant than my heavy in almost every way. The AR lets me kill things from longer ranges and faster if my aim isn't terrible (because ADS is a wonderful thing). The hip fire from the AR is even more accurate than the HMG until the HMG spends a quarter of its ammo spinning up, and even then the HMG has to crouch.
The logi can carry equipment to refill ammo and increase its utility in a squad situation, the Heavy can only shoot things.
I even find that I live longer in my Logi. The ability to disengage from a fight is invaluable. All my heavy can do is sit there and die as the two assault guys bob and weave around boxes too quickly for my slow turn rate to catch. It also doesn't help that, to use the HMG to its full effect you have to stand still and crouch. It's like sticking a neon sign on my forehead saying "FREE HEADSHOTS!" |

i think tanks and heavys have received now a equal amount of nerfs and are both useless. Well at least tank turrets will still work while the heavy will eventually have a nice amount of HP but a crappy HMG that wont deal half the damage of a toxin SMG. You are lucky if you can do 10HP damage with a normal HMG. And dont even get me started with the burst or assault which turn out as paper pellet guns. |

Huge threadnaughts are a-brewin'...
Anyways, I have to say one thing before I go on,
Take it easy on GM Unicorn, he is here to moderate the forums, and there are many spam threads starting to boil over and shutting out the original threads that had good, useful debate in them.
In that regards yes, I agree with GM.
But,
We are told to come up with hard numbers and stats to support our positions... Based of a line of patch notes that says "reduced range and damage on HMG"
No numbers to base it on...
Listen, the screaming and crying on these forums might not be positively uplifting at all, but it is basic concerns about the game, and people have been resorting more and more to GTFO noob instead of logic when arguing... Not good.
I am rather upset as a heavy player by these changes also, and the forums are the place to express our concerns and sometimes outrage. But spams are not the way to do it.
CCP could be more forthcoming about exact changes in terms of a numbers dev blog or forum post to make our calculations with. They also could step in and try to more directly understand the issues behind these things and respond in the good threads.
But I will hold my tongue until the 6th and make my judgement there. I will tell CCP what needs fixed, and they either get on the ball with it or fail. I care too much about DUST to see CCP make honest mistakes and destroy it.
I know CCP wants this game to succeed, but there are many stumbling blocks, internal and external. If they can adapt and push out updates faster I would be more forgiving. Atm, its too slow of a development process to deal with a situation for 6 months...
Game development is hard, we understand that, but there are also certain standards, and glacially slow content trickle and updates are a sure way to kill an incomplete game... |

Don't get me wrong, I despise this nerf, I am saying that to the people who demand "logics and calculations" since we dont have any hard math to bad it on.
Hopefully this wont be as bad as the missile nerf... Dear lord the horror |

I'm going to copy paste this post because I feel it's relevant to the discussion and will hopefully shed light on why some people might be reacting to the patch notes in a way some people might consider harsh.
Jotun Hiem wrote:More precise information would be a godsend. Saying you're tweaking a numerical value and then not saying how, why, or in what way is an easy way to make people freak.
This was something Blizzard did and still does very well. They tell you what they are changing, how they are changing it, and they give an exact description of the change. They tell you the damage change, the new % effectiveness of a buff, ect.
Ex1: Hamstring now slows target opponent's movement speed by 50%, up from 35%.
Ex2: Marines now have an armor of 0, down from 1.
Ex3: Mortal Strike's healing debuff no longer applies to healing received from food, potions, or bandages.
(pulling numbers outta nowhere.)
CCP took one of the most finicky weapons in the game and said "we're lowering its stats." That's a good way to **** a bunch of people off, especially when the weapon is considered lackluster by the majority of the player community to begin with. It doesn't help that even reducing the HMG's damage by as little as two points would cost the weapon over 10% of its base damage. It's a sticky situation and CCP does not have a great track record when it comes to bringing weapons into line. |

I think we are mostly all aware of how long it takes to tweak something at CCP's general pace. That's a large part of why you are getting such an incredibly hostile reaction on the forums right now -- nobody here is looking forward to waiting 6 months (minimum) to enjoy their game again.
And that's assuming your team does the right thing and reverses these incredibly uncalled for series of nerfs.
Sorry it falls on you to deal with the brunt of these complaints but, well... the forums are for discussing Dust, and right now Dust is in a very unhealthy place. It's not personally your fault, but this is the reality. Grab your survival gear and do what you gota do. |

Wow has this thread flown the coop.
Discussion on the forum is fun and all, but in the end, CCP has access to 2 vital components that we don't :
1. Uprising
Decreasing damage and range could also be accompanied by an increase in rate of fire... There's lots we don't know.
2. Back end statistics
Those statistics allow them to see how weapons perform better than individual outbursts of individuals.
CCP has built for themselves a track record of some of the worst management of expectations, and this is just another example of giving too much information, while not enough information. Result, Pandemonium on the forums. No one has any right to complain about Uprising's content at this point. |

The first issue was letting a small group of people be the voice of many, sounds good, means you don't need to wade through the comments ect and can just listen to what those select people say. However this does mean your only getting input from those people.
Your patch notes explained something well and gave good details in areas, but in other areas it was vague so the responses you get on those matters will be vague as well. But if anyone can please explain to me how decisions and nerfing and buffing is made? Just by looking at the patch notes after all the build up we had for uprising just shows alot of interest in assaults and barely any for other classes, Now I understand that assaults make up the majority of the player base but between the numbers of how many play assault AR compared to how many play other loadouts as well as all the comments people make about them surely you must;ve at least looked into them. |
