This is worrying since it's still one of the most game-breaking exploits around.
Sure, it may not be a huge deal for a couple weeks after the build hits and people are trying new stuff, but what about after that? It's not reasonable to expect people to wait another several months for CCP to do something. |

None of those are game-breaking like this AFK nonsense is.
It was a little strange that they chose to single out the HMG despite the fact that they've basically already confirmed they're nerfing other weapons as well.
As for making a fun game, that's all well and good. The problem that arises when there is some reward for doing nothing is always that a percentage of the player-base is still going to do it just for said reward--either on their main character or alts. The only uncertainty is how many it will be. |

Yea, there's always that too. When everyone on both teams are of roughly equal skill, everyone is playing, and there are very few snipers, I enjoy the game a lot. |

The worrying part is how long we'll have to wait. |

People waited over half a year for Uprising. Pretty sure if people stuck around that long they can stick around a while longer for an AFK fix.
That's exactly why they can't wait a while longer...it's already been a while. If it isn't fixed by the time critics start reviewing the game, I can't imagine how bad the reviews are going to be when they talk about how CCP is allowing half of a team to simply not play the game and still get rewards.
Part of me almost wants to set up groups of AFKers on the 14th (assuming it isn't fixed by then) just to reduce the chances of a good review and hope CCP learns a hard lesson about fixing game-breaking problems promptly. |

The Robot Devil wrote:I hope they don't fix afk. It is not a problem in a game that gives you the points no matter what. SP don't mean much and mercs who do not fight in battle either suck or are really good and either way the SP doesn't help them. QQ someone is cloaked in my system and I can't undock. These afk mercs are playing all you cry babies for fools.
You're missing the point entirely. It's not really that they're getting SP that bothers me, though that's the underlying cause as to why they're AFKing. The problem is that it completely ruins the game for the rest of the team that actually wants to play and the team they're playing against.
Have you ever tried pushing points when you have 6-9 people AFKing in your MCC? It's not fun at all. You either try and die a lot because you're constantly outnumbered by a wide margin, you sit back in the red line and snipe which is incredibly boring (especially if you aren't specced into sniping), or you join the AFKers, which compounds the problem for everyone else.
On the flip side, have you ever been in a game where the other team has 6-9 AFKers and they're all sitting in the red line sniping? It's incredibly dull and the game loses all enjoyment. |

It's not as if learning about it two days prior is going to make any difference. Best case scenario is it takes people two days longer into Uprising's launch to figure out ways to exploit whatever it is they come up with and we have to wait several months for another fix. If the solution is so easily bypassed that they can't give us two days notice, then it's not a real solution.
Quote:Well, if they show their cards they will be working on a different system right now. Let them at least have the advantage of surprise. Also while they have said they were investigating the issue they have never stated they have solved the issue.
This has been a problem for a while now, it just hasn't been as widespread. Also, I'm pretty sure they said they had a fix (or a potential one) for Uprising.
Quote:For your own enjoyment, Leave Battle. Just go. Get into a different match. Email the AFK with promises of Director positions in Infamous. Whatever helps you have fun. In the Game.
Ha. I like the shot at Infamous, but my idea of fun isn't writing mail to people who are just going to beat off to it later. When people who aren't playing the game are ruining it for those who would normally be enjoying it, you have a serious game design flaw.
Quote:Now spend five minutes thinking about AFK methods that do not involve the MCC. Guess what? You have worked around whatever CCP/Shanghai can come up with. This will be an ongoing battle. One that may never be won.
Your imagination is sorely lacking. Long ago they talked about making it so you couldn't earn WP within the red zone, thus facilitating more action within the combat area. Couple that with a minimum SP per X time period, and you've done some damage to AFK farmers. Even if they use the drop uplink method and hope blueberries spawn there, they'd still have to be somewhere in the actual combat area where they can be killed by their own team or the enemy.
They could add some sort of vote-kick feature, though that can always be taken advantage of. The point is, there's a lot they can do that can't be circumvented simply by moving five feet to the left.
Quote:Play your own game.
I would do that if I could without it being ruined by these people. You haven't read anything I've written. |
