So the other day i was thinking about the MCC and all the possibilities it could bring. Especially on gas planets!
So we know that eventually we will get a commander sitting in the MCC and he will be placing orders and so on. Then I thought the MCCs seem to be shooting missiles on thier own at each other regardless of the null cannons. Someone has to be doing that right? The whole purpose of Skirmish is to destroy the enemies MCC.
So this is my thought. My idea. Why doesnt someone be in command of the MCC? Treat it like its a ship in EVE. Let us equip it with various modules and guns. The two MCCs would be dueling in the skys while the mercs fight on the ground for the null cannons to assist their MCC.
They would still be slow but the pilot could target the MCC in places and move the ship about. Maybe it could provide support to places on the map within its firing arc. Works same way as the Orbital strikes but not as strong. more like a sort of powerful strafing run to damage tanks or pin down infantry. The commander could maybe be responsible for directing the MCC and its guns.
Basically the a Merc piloting the MCC fights the other teams MCC while Mercs fight for the null cannons to support it.
Just an idea |

My idea for how piloting should start out, is that the pilot will control the position of the MCC. As well as what the guns are focusing their fire on. The pilot may choose to fire at the Enemy MCC, tank, or drop ship.
Eventually we would get stuff like better guns and modules, though, i feel like this would be hard to balance. Since someone could basically make their MCC indestructible even with all the null canon's shooting at it the enetire game.
I feel that to balance any new weapons, they would have to be manually controlled. So either by the pilot or gunners (one for every gun). |

True. But i was thinking that to fire at ground targets would require war points like the Orbital strike does. But less points. The idea is that null cannons always do damage to MCCs its just that it depends on who they are firinf at. |

This is brought up repeatedly. I see no reason for it however. Are you willing to spend 120M on a public match just so you can take out a turret?
If you can actually do it then we should be able to damage the MCC directly.
I wonder what the ISK payout would be for bringing down the MCC with a Breach Forge Gun?
As stated there will be a Battlefield Commander position and if you want to then you will be welcome to apply. |

The commander mode should simply be a RTS-esque information heavy view of the battlefield with a 3rd person MCC view. The Commander should have a host of command options such as installation deployment, current objective orders, MCC placement (selects area on map for MCC to move towards), voip command broadcasting, off-map support, E-War, logistics, etc.
I envision the MCC command mode as a huge tactical and strategic layer of delth for this game. By having a huge amount of options to assist your team with, you can make command mode fun and intense. |

These are some of the discussions I personally have joined in, or started on the MCC... there are heaps more out there along the same lines, or similar. |
