While these reveal the location of the user and thus may not be handy for scouts, it is still important for us to have an understanding of their scan precision. Has the usage of an Active Scanner revealing your location been verified? I have seen such claims, but I have not been able to reproduce this in-game while scanning, and the scanner description doesn't mention it, either. Read the scanner description again, it does mention it (it's towards the bottom of the description if I recall). Also I was noticing this before I read the description, I would stand behind a wall and scan someone and they'd start coming towards me. Then I heard it on the forums, checked the description in game, and sure enough there it was. Glad there is an optional respec coming because I do not want them anymore. Also I heard there is a message that pops up alerting you if you have been scanned. If this is indeed the case then I must have never been scanned.
I have scanned entire teams at once, If they were alerted to my presence I'd be getting run down like the last twinkie on a cops pay day, also the description says nothing about alerting other players to your position, I've won 90% of my games where I ran active scanner as my partner knew where everyone was before he swiftly killed them all, It's probably the best thing to have in equipment with the only problem being it doesn't currently provide WP, and to use it effectively means you have to have out all game. |

Huh that's weird, it appears the description of the active scanner has been changed. The part that says it reveals your position has been removed. |

After testing yesterday, I have come to the same conclusion: using an Active Scanner will not reveal your position. |

I've been using my scout for tank hunting and it has been extremely effective. The only things that seem to be getting me are snipers if I'm not careful. Tanks don't seem to be able to spot me. I watch the turrets spin like crzy trying to figure where they are getting hit from.
The speed also makes it so that the tanks thing they are safe when they run away but I can still run them down.
Stumbled into this one but it has become my favorite build as I just play as a scout normally would, using a sub and whenever the opportunity arises, I pull out the Swarm. It has been very effective so far. |

I tried scout combos with the swarm launcher and never had must success because it would only take one sniper shot to end my day.
Has anyone tried the shotgun/flaylock combo yet? The new nova knives seemed to have found a home in most scouts' fitting but this combo is really nice when it comes to versatility. |

Shotgun/Flaylock is very fun and extremely effective. Flaylock is perfect for finishing off people who get away.
That said, I recommend that people turn aim-assist off when using a shotgun. Helps quite a bit. |
