Solo is now a option only for the very skilled and aware. You have to be with your guys now or be extremely sneaky. Face to face encounter? Run back jumping, you'll be dead meat.Only flank flank flank.
Stealth is much more viable due to shorter scan radia of all suits, so sneaking up on people is easier. I've pulled some pretty blatant flanks, keep running behind people without them noticing.
Active scanners, cloaking and electronic warfare do and will make for an even more rewarding gameplay mechanic. |

The description of the equipment talks about backscatter, but I haven't been able to verify the (likely) possiblity that you get revealed on the minimap if you do a scan. Makes scanners quite a bit less useful for scouts...

I sure hope not. Novas are perfect as it is, and sprinting with charged knives would make them OP.
Delirium Inferno wrote:It's just I never understood quite why everyone is saying a scout needs the Active Scanner, shouldn't their passive scanners be good enough? Save an equipment slot, scanner should be for non-scouts who want to dip just a bit into that role.
Range is the reason. Scan ranges of suits are much shorter in Uprising. Scouts start with 10m, which is pretty much useless for proper recon, and only useful in CQC.
Active scanners have ranges in the tens of meters, so they are a requirement for recon. |

Has the usage of an Active Scanner revealing your location been verified? I have seen such claims, but I have not been able to reproduce this in-game while scanning, and the scanner description doesn't mention it, either. |

I have seen such claims, but I have not been able to reproduce this in-game while scanning, and the scanner description doesn't mention it, either. Read the scanner description again, it does mention it (it's towards the bottom of the description if I recall). Also I was noticing this before I read the description, I would stand behind a wall and scan someone and they'd start coming towards me. Then I heard it on the forums, checked the description in game, and sure enough there it was. Glad there is an optional respec coming because I do not want them anymore. Also I heard there is a message that pops up alerting you if you have been scanned. If this is indeed the case then I must have never been scanned. I have scanned entire teams at once, If they were alerted to my presence I'd be getting run down like the last twinkie on a cops pay day, also the description says nothing about alerting other players to your position, I've won 90% of my games where I ran active scanner as my partner knew where everyone was before he swiftly killed them all, It's probably the best thing to have in equipment with the only problem being it doesn't currently provide WP, and to use it effectively means you have to have out all game.
After testing yesterday, I have come to the same conclusion: using an Active Scanner will not reveal your position. |
