Im surprised i have not thought of this sooner. Can we get gates, bridges, and doors?
As it is now all the doorways are just open for anyone to run through. The defender should be able to close gates and doors to prevent the enemy from just running in. Heres is what my thoughts are,
Gates: For an attacker to get throught they must either destroy the gate or hack a terminal from the inside to open it. This would encourage people to use heavyer equipment. The owner can open it remotely from the inside by a command suit or use a terminal near it to open the gate.
Doors: This would work great for more close quarters type battles. Some doors open and close when near it and others can be locked. To get through a locked door attackers have to blow it or hack the door. The owner just has to press a button to open. This could make for fun moments like whats behind the door? Players could use breach tactics to clear out a room. It kind of reminds me of that starwars movie where the clone troopers board the rebel ship. You never know.
Bridges: They could be lowered or raised and other stuff.
In general there should be more things to interact with. Make the game a little more dynamic. When defending a fortress or compound the enemy should not be able to just waltz right in. It need to be a fight to breach the walls.
Any other ideas that could be added to make things more dynamic? |

This would definitely add a positive experience to tactical play, so I am down with it!
I am also a dropship pilot, so it would give even more incentive to be able to drop them into your complex and over your gates (^^ |

I really like the Ideas but it would make it almost too tough to get through some areas. especially if your team just got out of a redline and now has to clear a way through a city loaded with booby traps. But still good Ideas |

Sorry, but this doesn't work in terms of balance. They are great ideas for fun and enjoyment, but implementing these into the game would make so many people roll heavy. |

Well there would not be doors around every corner. And the gate would not be the only way into a complex. You could use a dropship or there could be smaller openings that clones can fit through but not tanks and such. It is true that too many doors would be a pain. But even if there are just doors that slide open automatically, it could make things more interesting |

To make things more tactical (or interesting), add some climbing gear (beside dropships) to scale the ramparts (ropes, ladders or gravboots). Or trebuchet for launching single mercs inside enemy encampment above the walls... |

I couldn't find a thread that fit this suggestion specifically so I figured I'd leave it here.
With the new scanner coming in to play very soon it made me wonder if there will be/could be some equipment you add to dropships that allow for some type of radar they give off as they fly overhead and enemies ping up for however many seconds (higher grade equipment = longer lasting radar information). It would allow for dropships to be more than people movers but actually tactical advantages on the battlefield. Similarly I thought to add on to the handheld scanner perhaps there could be some type of mortar like device that shoots a projectile high above the battlefield, explodes, and uses sonar like technology to pinpoint the enemy. Just a thought. |

I suggested this literally months ago to absolutely no reply...
I said essentially the same thing, but just went and gave a few more examples of things you could have, and how the different states of active, hacked, and destroyed would work... |

+1 A common sense suggestion. Especially seeing how the randomly generated bases work. Ever noticed how the bases always have big entrances. Literally, "please! just roll right in and invade me!"
Be nice if those bases had some doors. The doors could be blown down with some heavy concentrated railgun fire over time, but that's all. Or you can also implement base shielding.
Doing this would make railguns and forge guns double as both AV weapons and Siege weapons. Imagine a pair of dropships equipped with railgun turrets to whittle away base's shields, and then infantry units deploy from the air once the shields drop. When inside, they fight off opposition, and can either go for the objective, secure and disable the generator room, or secure the gate control room to allow blaster tanks and other grounds units inside.

The part I emboldened is ALL that matters. It would make the breach power that Heavies and Scout Shotties have that much more important. :) |

They did, and CCP responded https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=418304#post418304 "[SUGGESTION/REQUEST] Hackable bridge's door's and other possible defense/offense mechanism Update: Interesting idea for the dev team to explore in future updates."
I really like these ideas regardless. |
