I'm 110% Positive this has been asked before, but I hate the search database of this forum, so I'm not bothering to look it up. Does anyone have a good Shotgun Scout fitting? I'm aiming for something good in Skirmish (I prefer that type of battle.), but that can also be a valuable asset in Ambush OMS. I'd need something pretty cheap in SP and ISK, as I'm deleting a character to make this one, so I'm starting fresh. |

Then again that's a little tougher fitting. |

I did, and its a bit expensive SP-Wise. And if I do decide to use it (It's likely...), would you mind setting up a Corp Battle or something for me to train with? I wouldn't want to spend the SP and whatnot, just to get Proto-Stomped, or Spawnkilled.
EDIT: In fact, I've been trying to get used to that fit by using a slightly de-graded Fitting on my Logi (AKA this guy...), and I just don't think it would be the same as the actual suit... And would you recommend the 'Ranger' or the 'Spider' for the blood-thirsty? :) |

Just make another account on a different PSN so you can get passive SP, and if you no longer wish to play AG you can just use it to try stuff out. There's a SP refund coming up May 6th too, so you can put your points in whatever you want at that time.
You said you have a logi suit. Is it the vk.1? That suit is ten thousand times better for a shotgun than a scout suit. Scout dropsuits are slightly better than a heavy suit when it comes to using a shotgun.
If you like using a scout dropsuit and just want to have fun, I suggest scrambler pistols. If you like the shotgun, go Assault or Logi. Assault is better than logi until the prototype suit lvl. If you want to combine the two and still want to go shotgun scout, then best of luck to you :P |

I'm not a huge fan of multiple accounts, I live in a family of 5, and my OCD prevents me from making a certain number of something. AKA: If I don't have only 5 accounts on there, I go a little crazy.
My Logi is currently using Militia-Class gear. I recently figured out that the Advanced suits don't give a ton better stats, as I still die about 5 times per game. the starter suit is free, so I just fit Demolitions stuff on there. If I use advanced suits, Instead of paying 18K x 5 per battle, I pay around 48K x 5 per battle, or something similar. Just not worth it.
And I'd rather stay in Scout Suits. Logi and Assault might be better for some frontlining stuff, but I'm not doing it for only the Shotgun, as the normal noob would. I'm a special breed of noob, and I am taking a more 'strategic' approach. I'm staying in scout suits for the speed. And the Profile Dampening that comes natural with the suit.
As for the SP refund, I already knew about that (Trying to sound as least rude as possible...). I'm making a new character because it just feels clean... Have you never made a character, looked at your fittings and skill list, and been like, "Yup. This has potential."? I just like seeing that I have a clone that's going to be one BA MFer one day. :D |

What I use as an all-around scout shotgun build is:
Dragonfly Dropsuit Specialist Shotgun Shield extender (I run a complex but anything helps) Packed AV Grenades/Flux Grenades Nanite Injector Basic Profile Dampener Basic Shield Regulator
It is all around good for disrupting enemy positions and hacking objectives. I tend to flank for my squad or at least cause enough mayhem that I can be picked up. Also sniper hunting is fun which was mentioned in a different thread.
A more defensive but equally fun build is:
Type B Series Specialist Shotgun Shield Extender Profile Dampener Shield Regulator Packed AV Grenades Remote Explosives
I can't quite remember which level of modules I have on this suit since I've been changing it around lately, but it is effective. You can often hold down three objectives by placing a remote explosive on each and hanging around a third.
If you want more detail just let me know and I can scroll through my fittings when I log on next. |

I have quite an advanced scout shotgunner fit involving the Type-II, which has been created through months of refining and testing. The downside is that you need quite a few CPU increasing skills to make it a valid fit, at least the maxed out circuitry and light weapon upgrade in the very least. But without further ado here it is:
Suit: Scout Type-II
Weapon: Specialist shotgun
Equipment: Gauged Uplinks, Remote Explosives
Grenade: Flux Grenades
Low Power Slots: Basic Codebreaker, Basic Shield Regulator.
High Power Slots: Basic Shield Extender
Having also invested points on Shield Control and Light Weapon Ammo Capacity is also preferrd, to compensate for the type-II suit's low shields and the shotgun's low ammo count. Although, this fitting might be changed quite a lot when Uprising comes, so I'll probably update this once it cmes out. |

Still no point whatsoever to delete your existing one. Let's say in a years time you'll be putting SP in those skills you already have anyway, so you've lost them if you make a new character.

Ok, It's just personal preference, bro. There is a method to my madness. One that involves me being a cheapskate. I deleted an Assault that had basically no skills, no unique fits, no money, no SP, no anything. He was practically a new character, but with some failed suit attempts, leaving me broke, in a ditch. I wanted to switch from an Enforcer to an Arbiter, so I could have a free Scout Suit at the beginning of the game, saving me some money, instead of wasting even more SP. Now do you understand, instead of hatin' because I like a clean slate? :P
And Denak, why the Specialist? Is it because of the low CPU/PG usage? I can't remember what each variant does ATM... Other than that (A low ammo count is undesirable, I know its a Shotgun and all, but earlier I died twice with my Breach, because of reloads...), you have some really great stuff. I was hoping there was some way I could fit a Codebreaker in there somewhere, as I love Skirmish (I just think ambush has no point, where Skirmish has a clear goal, and requires something other than brute force...) and that involves hacking. A Codebreaker can make any scout a valueable asset at the start of any Skirmish because of the speed of movement, and hacking. :D |

Scout Type-A
'Daemon' Shotgun Blueprint Carthum Assault Scrambler Pistol Flux Grenades Gauged Nanohive
Advanced Profile Enhancer Complex Shield Extender Advanced Kinetic Catalyzer (got enough PG/CPU available for a complex but need mo' SP) Basic Armor Repairer
This is what I use for Skirmish when playing solo. It's very much an offensive 'blitz' suit used for being where I need to be as quickly as possible. The main difference from normal Shotgun Scout fittings is that I use a Profile Enhancer instead of a Dampener. The reasons for this are:
1) Most AR bros don't give a single duck fart about the radar. 2) If they get line of sight on you, you're dead. 3) The only way you're going to stop that from happening is knowing where they are so you can put something solid between the two of you.
It doesn't matter if they can't see you on the radar if you can't see them. Chances are they'll get visual on you and split you in two regardless. Since the skilled part of shotgun use is closing the gap to get yourself in range, you need as much information as possible at all times, which the Enhancer helps greatly with. Also, you feel like you're dodging bullets when you round a pillar in a way that gives the enemy no line of sight, which is ~pretty sweet~.
I also use an armor repairer, which is definitely the most questionable fitting, but once you master the art of staying alive for more than a minute as a scout it pays for itself and removes the need to rely on fatboys trying to lock their beams onto your dust cloud. It also has the side benefit of lighting up anyone approaching you while hacking, which is something you're going to be doing a lot as a frontline scout.
I still die more than most suits, but the kills scale equally, to the point where I'm outkilling tanks some rounds and topping the table most. |

That's not a bad suit at all, actually. Depending on price I may use it as a less expensive alternative to the Fitting I've decided to us, just in case I get in a battle with some very skilled players, and I don't wanna waste all that money. :P
What I don't understand is your survivability rating, even with the shield extender. I use only 1 Enhanced SE, and I somehow managed to last a full minute in a firefight against 2 people with no backup. It might've been my Bunny Hopping though. And I only killed one before the other got annoyed of wasting AR ammo and pulled out an SMG. |

I probably should have specified that the deaths are entirely down to how aggressive you are, not a mandatory part of the fit. Most of the time I'm way too reckless and will happily hardcore dance into the middle of a heavily fortified position for the hell of it.
Since I started out as a Logi, my KDR is too wrecked to care about anyway (thank god) and I don't mind wading in, because in a public game someone has to pick up that baton before the hivemind collectively decides it's redline/sniper rifle time, and everything becomes terrible.
EDIT: Oh, now that I read it again I get what you mean. I meant 'most suits' as in other fits I use, not other players. |

Ok, if your first character was only a few days old and you were out of ISK, that is a reasonable explanation. I will accept that.
As for fit: - I like to have an Armour repair so my armour can regen between engagements. - Cardiac Regulator is nice to help you sprint faster. - Sensor Dampener would be useful if you donGÇÖt have Dropsuit Command maxed. - I think I use a CPU upgrade on my Drop Uplink fit.
- I bought a mercenary pack, so I have the Dragonfly Scout suit BPO, so other than the initial cost of buying the merc pack it is free. (Handy if you did not start as an Arbitrator.) The Dragonfly also has two low slots while I think the militia one only has one.
- Equipment depends on what you want to do. I have several fits with different equipment.
- I go with Shield Extenders in the High slot because damage mods required too much CPU (or was it power grid?) and your shield regen is fast in a scout suit anyway.
I run with 2 SMG, or an SMG and a Swarm Launcher, using SMG as my primary weapon. I did not like how bulky and unwieldy the shotgun was, but that is just personal preference. I still use shotgun if I am hunting heavies.
Oh, and for those that know me, I finally broke the curse that was on me that doomed me to die within 30 seconds of spawning in a Scout suit. I have been running exclusively scout for the last 2 weeks.

I've recently been running a couple suits, one depending on opposing skill level, or just how much money I want to spend in a match:
I'm running a Starter Arbiter with a Shotgun fit into it. Its a big price jump between that and my Type-1 that costs 26.5K...
Is there a skill the passively decreases CPU and/or PG? The suit I'm trying to use is missing REs and AV Nades (The Shotgun Ranger), because I don't have near enough CPU, and can't afford the SP for the A-Series. :P
And I totally understand the Heavy Hunting. I had a killstreak involving 90% Heavies for an entire game, just to get shot down by a Logi. That's why we Logi's rock. :D
EDIT: Oh, ok Snap. Sorry, I did misunderstand. xD |

The Uplink + Remote + Codebreaker combnation hogs a ton of CPU, you need the Specialist shotgun in order to make the fit valid(Yes, the Specialist variant lowers the CPU and PG at the expense of ammo count). But yeah, with this loadout most of my kills come from blowing up unsuspecting enemies with remotes, and I try to be as presice as possible with my shotgun to cmpensate for the low ammo count. I also memorize the location of all supply depots so I know where to go in case I need ammo or health.
And thanks, it took months of refining to make it work well. |

Oh ok thanks for the info! :D
I'm thinking of making a 'Hacker' suit, that will make me an early riser in Skirmish maps. Maybe a Enhanced-Complex KC, and a Complex Codebreaker on a Scout Suit? Also, memorizing locations is a good idea, I've only remembered a couple locations for Skim Junction (My fav map, although I suck at it...).
And especially thanks for the skill info, I need to lower my CPU by a crapload... Ok, I'm off. |

This is by all means NOT A GOOD FIT- however, for people who bought the merc pack and have AUR to spare, it will save you piles of ISK, while being fun to use.
(everything listed here should be BPO, if possible) Dragonfly Scout Type 1 Militia Shotgun Toxin SMG Militia Locus grenades Militia Light Damage mod Militia Armor Repair Unit Militia Kinetic Catylizer
Like I said before, it saved people who bought the right merc pack tons of ISK, while being fun to use and relatively effective. Keep in mind that with shotguns, upgrading the shotgun operation and light weapon sharpshooter skills is more important than upgrading the weapon itself. |
