Is Dust official release on May the 14th? Look at this tweet from April 27: https://twitter.com/CCP_Manifest GÇ£DUST 514 launches on 5.14.2013GÇ¥
Does this mean, there will be no patch on the 6th? Is the 14 of May the official release of this game? Like, with all the features, single player, all drop suits etc.? Because if not, I feel that Dust 514 will miss the chance to score on some console owners without a PVE or single player exertions (and this always online philosophy)
Talking about missing chances, heave you read this on IGN btw? http://ca.ign.com/articles/2013/04/25/has-dust-514-missed-its-golden-opportunity?abthid=5179672243ef3c2117000014
I know a lot of you donGÇÖt care about sites like IGN or other opinions :). (But you are still welcome to discuss stuff if you like) What I like to know is what exactly is going to happen on the 6 and 14 of May in Dust514. Especially the GÇ£launchGÇ¥ thing, I donGÇÖt feel like the game I ready to be launched.
PS: I really wish that CCP is joking about leaving DUST 514 for a GÇ£longer periodGÇ¥ of time on the PS3 while people are GÇ£saving up money for the ps4GÇ¥. I start 3 clients of eve online simultaneously faster than starting DUST on my PS3. And maybe no one told CCP that gamers have grown up now. Saving up for PS4? Really :)? IGÇÖm going to buy this ****** on first day, and you will have a very hard time to convince me to start my PS3 back up for something other than Dark Souls / Dark Souls 2. Yes I know exactly that not everyone have the money to buy it on the very first time, all IGÇÖm trying to say is: the time is over where the majority of games have to beg their parents to buy product xyz.

Orin the Freak wrote:on may 6th, the new build of DUST 514, titled "Uprising" Rolls out. On May 14, the game launches, and we get the first patch of the uprising build, which will introduce the Scrambler Rifle, Flaylock Pistol, and Plasma Cannon, as well as new maps, and a new game mode.
Thus, Uprising will be the first build in DUST's long, storied history that is yet to be written.
Well Sir, thank you a lot. I was a little worried, that there will be no patch at all. I and my friends have a little session on the 11/12 May ;). Is there by chance any more Information about the content for these two dates? A link would be perfectly fine if someone can provide one. |

KalOfTheRathi wrote:@meri jin, you are over thinking things.
Uprising is due May 6th. There are more updates coming quickly. This is a large release and I would expect it to be spread out over some time. May 14th is supposedly new maps and weapons. Which one they call a new build (not a patch, btw) or a release doesn't really matter.
So, relax. May 6th is happening.
och yes yes, build and patch, now i get it :) |

1) there is no reason why the game could not operate on both the PS3 and the PS4 at the same time. That statement was made to relieve people who were concerned CCP would drop support for the PS3 and force them to upgrade if they wanted to keep playing. 2) the Uprising client will start about 3x faster than it does now.
I have heard that you can't even play a digital copy on the PS4. The system architecture is way to different from the PS3. That is the reason why you need to stream a ps3 game on your ps4 rather than just use a digital copy. This means for me: for a long term solution, ccp needs a new client for the PS4.

Ten-Sidhe wrote:PS4 arcitecture is to diffrent for game made for ps3 to run on, yes.
Unreal engine was made for x86 architecture, then ported to PS3. PS4 uses x86 the engine was originally made for, so it should be very easy to make it work on PS4. About as hard as getting windows version of eve to run on mac or linux instead of windows. This easy port could be part of why they choose Unreal3 engine to begin with.
Games with engines made for ps3 will be a pain to port.
Then it is probably save to say that ccp was using ps3-Dust just for testing, hyping, balancing and so on, and that the ps4-Dust will have all the promising features. This would be a very horrible thing.
Features like pve content, group pve, very different maps, more players, other map, environment changing, and so on, you know? All the things which should have been in the official release, right from the start. Console gamers are not use to half done things. On the other hand, Dust is nearly free to playGǪ you only need to pay money if you like to win from time to time *troll*.

Well well, I can only hope for this to happen :) @ crazy space 1. Nice posting +1 I play eve for about 4 or 5 years now, and IGÇÖm getting a little bored right now and IGÇÖm thinking about giving up on that. It would be so nice if I could connect to the world of new Eden true dust. Hope this game can make it. And I hope it wonGÇÖt be as time consuming as eve right now.

My experience with CCP from playing EVE is:
- They DO give a sh*t about player base arguments and ideas. They are listening.
- Progress is slow, but steady. EVE Online is growing more in quality rather than quantity over time. (Improving existing features rather than including theme parks)
- CCP is very carefully in balancing and introducing new ships, modules etc.
- Great customer service, sense of humor and knowing the GÇ£languageGÇ¥ of their customers.
- They have done only view missteps, admit them and for the very most part, fix them. They kept almost the given ideas and promises. CCP is really learning from failure.
Well thatGÇÖs sums it up I think. Still Dust is not EVE and IGÇÖm not a fanboy. CCP first have to prove me that this game is going to be fun. The potential is huge, letGÇÖs hope this game manage to attract enough people so it can grow faster.
