DUST Search - So uh cough.. Patchnotes

The Fanfest isn't about CCP telling us info on the upcoming expansions and patches, that is just an addition because if all CCP wanted out of fanfest was to give us infornation, they could have just written a devblog or made a podcast which wouldn't be so expensive. The Fanfest is organized so EVE and DUST players can come together in a single location from all over the world to meet their friends and the devs, plus just have a good time playing games and drinking Quafe.

And frankly, what does it actually matter if the info comes out two months or one day beforehand? So you can go back to grinding as much SP pubstombing in ambush matches as possible? Sometimes you should just give a big middle finger to efficiency and just have fun, y'know?

Yeah I have to say that I was extremely disappointed in the Dust Keynote, the Dust portion of the CCP Presents was nice, but that was all future vision stuff. They, for the most part, didn't tell us anything that we didn't already know about. They should have provided details about what we know about. As far as fanfest reveals go, this fanfest was not as well done as previous fanfests have been done. But I fear alot of that is because Incarna/WiS and the "Future Vision" video got them into a lot of trouble with players. These days CCP is much more reserved in what they reveal and how much of it that they do reveal, mostly to keep from painting themselves into corners.

They showed everything. Each feature one by one. How it works, what it does , and so on. They spent two hours showing everything. And it's still a month away. Dust talked more stuff at fanfest about whats coming out in 2 years, not next week. Fanfest dust keynote was exacttly for telling it's playerbase whats coming out soon. The devs even told us the blackout was due to fanfest.....

I beg you. seriously :/ They post the patchnotes the day before or on the day itself, as they want to include last second changes and sometimes they postpone features at the last second because of deployment issues, so they'll be as current as possible.

Eve does that too, they release the patch notes 2 weeks before an expansion, and then add changes to the patch notes in green....

The future stuff they talked about was all preceded or succeeded with "We have this ability". They neither confirmed nor denied when or if it was actually coming. See the real issue as to what DUST will and won't do will heavily depend on what EvE players will and won't allow. EvE players have demonstrated their ability to force CCPs hand and since EvE is subscription game CCP will at the very least push back features, which means that some features that require both EvE and DUST, such as boarding parties or moving Mercs around in space, will be heavily determined by EvE players. I've said it before and I'll say it again, while I like DUST, it is going to turn out to be the Bast*** child of CCP. The EvE CE demonstrates that, why do DUST players have to buy EvE to be able to get DUST stuff? The DUST keynote told player exactly what we already knew was coming out on May 6th, the only thing we didn't know about was the May 14th stuff. Even a release date wasn't exactly news to us. The only difference between what we thought we knew and what we didn't know, concerning the release date, was 8 days, that was the difference. Otherwise, the only new information we got actually came during the Q&A when players brought things up.

Source code repository is locked and nobody tests or fixes bugs. It just sits there and waits for D-Day. Or Deployment Day. If you are not paying a subscription fee, CCP doesn't care about you. Even if you are paying a subscription, they assume you are PLEX-ing, and don't care about you. CCP as a whole, does not care about the community in any real sense. They care about getting you to buy aurum, and not quit, so long as there is an opportunity to get more out of you. As long as they can provide just enough teasers, and misinformation to keep people from bailing en masse, they deserve a vacation apparently. We already know the patch is done. It had to be in sonys hand to evaluate before Fanfest. So they know what is in there, they just won't give us patch notes because we will then rip them apart for laziness, or incompetence. CCP needs to HTFU and stand by the changes they made, not go into hiding until patch day, then get ripped apart.
