I was wondering why all so many battles were so lopsided and why i as a single player without a corp or squad was always on the losing side...but then i saw a squad of good players leave a match right before it started.
See i am thinking there is an alliance of corps or a few alliance of corps and they join games in squads all at the same time...when they see another squad in their alliance on the opposing team they drop out leaving the team with only single players who join after the match starts. (odds are the matchmaking will pick up single pub players rather then fill the spot with a squad)
With the right gear and being marginally better then other players they are able to exploit the current random matchmaking system to fight only less geared and less experienced players....or at least to substantially increasing the odds of only fighting unorganized low geared low SP players.
Anyway there has been a lot of discussion about how to keep new players from being discouraged from playing after getting face stomped....this practice probably isn't helping |

How would that be possible when only about 50 people still pay this game? |

I find that surprising that a squad of one corp/alliance would just drop from a pub match if there was a squad from there corp/alliance on the other side. My corp has been building a coalition and whenever we see other corps from our coalition on the other side we crack our knuckles and prepare our lvl 5 **** talking for them after the match, for better or worse, its always a rewarding game playing against people you know well. |

ROFL squads run into each other all the time, I'm not joking here, I've gone entire evenings with every match having a ROFL squad on both sides, leads to lots of good matches. |

Lol because it turns into a "lets show em how it's done" on both sides so it makes a great match >:D |

Rest assured, if there is any chance this kind of thing hasn't been going on, that chance is now zero.
But I sense your post may be less about how others can compete against such strategy and more about how to stop it.
I would advocate for the former.
Instead of restricting or constraining certain behaviors in the sandbox, let's adapt to them as best we can, first. This way we differentiate between opportunities to evolve & improve gameplay and truly unbalancing & game breaking actions.
I hope that, given time and broader stratification of player base, we will see things like pub matches squading up even with uncorp'd clones...leading to better coordinated tactics even without voice comms...and every variation of play, from solo newbs to hard wired nullsec elitists, competing and learning or losing. |

Eh?
People can do what they want.
The fix is pretty easy if CCP wants to implement it...simply hide the opposing team list from view until the match is over.
Players that do do this i would suggest if you like the game and want it to succeed that you don't do it very often...and probably never do it when CCP is pushing a big ad campaign pulling in new players.
But yeah this is a CCP game set in the EvE universe....going meta and scouring every game mechanic exploit for an advantage is THE GAME.
My post is all about "hey i figured out what is going on with the matches...look at how smart i am." I already play the game how it is and plan on keep playing it.
Plus i think CCP already has a plan to fix it. they said they hope to pull the more experienced players away from the pub matches with faction warfare and planet conquest....hell they are the game makers, i trust em. If not i am sure they will figure somehting else out.Quote:

Yeah i have only been playing this game for a little less then a month...and i figured it out. Pretty sure a game filled with EVE players (the spreadsheet of video games) that someone already got the idea long before i mentioned it. |

Hey, don't take away the opposing team board... that's a good place to look for people that need a good sniping to the faceplate (basically, any obvious squad that makes it in). |

I think the more important question is, are these 50 people that pay the game paying to win?
I think the OP may be on to something. How does the algorithm account for players leaving the match after the initial "balancing" has taken place? How does it fill available slots in battles that are already in progress? |
