Your matching system is crap. Everyone knows this. Whole team of proto vs whole team of lower level players does not work. A game that does not work does not last. Maybe if it was mixed a bit it might work, but it's usually not, and as I cannot run proto, all I do is die repeatedly.
I run an assault suit with a gek, sometimes, and I'll go and empty a clip into a guy wearing a proto suit, get most of the way through his shield, and have to reload. I don't get to reload, though, because he then whips about and kills me in 5 or 6 shots. I run a type 1 assault suit, on that. This means that I can't really do anything here except feed points to the other team. With all of my other suits, I don't really get any better results.
A more even exchange of fire my ass.
I read somewhere that you were not planning to fix your matching system, but, rather, you were going to hope that planetary conquest was going to draw off the higher level. As a player, this reads as a "**** off." That's like hoping that the higher level players wont run proto in pub matches now, because it makes the game unfair.
In order for planetary conquest to draw off higher level players, it would have to be a constantly available thing, and would have to be wildly profitable. Now, I admit, I am kind of fuzzy on the exact mechanics, but, this does not sound like it is the case. First, there are pesky timers, which mean that you can effectively lock out fighting for a good portion of the day. Then, there is the issue of having enough clones to fight, and then, getting enough people online to attack/defend a district. Pool all of these together, and, after the initial land runs, I don't imagine that these higher level players are going to spend that much time in conquest.
What does that leave them?
Pub matches.
Pub matches, were they will have easy farming of players, which will drive everyone else from the game. I use to try to get friends in here, back where there wasn't a constant wall of protos in pub fights, and the game was still fun. Now, it's really not fun anymore, and I actually tell people not to come in right now.
Also, fix some of your bugs. Sometimes, I shoot at someone, and get a whole bunch of shield flash, but no damage, as they are ripping chunks of my health out. (I'm pretty sure some have learned how to use this bug, but that's another angry rant) Other times, I'll empty a whole clip into someone, and they are not in any way affected by the bullets. I'm not even sure the servers register that I've fired. They shoot me fine, as I "theoretically" shoot them, but my bullets disappear into the ether. Another favorite is the reloading glitch, where it just stops right before it's finished, and then I have to mele or something and start over. That has gotten me killed plenty of times. There is also the memory leak, the suit loading, the abominable ui lag, and the really infuriating terrain glitches.
These bugs are painful and crippling, and will make the game unplayable in some cases. You've known about them for months, don't expect me to believe you haven't. You have a very vocal player base, from what I've seen, and I'm sure someone has mentioned these before hand. Other game companies get on this stuff quick, fast, and in a hurry. I almost never get a game now without spending at least 10 minutes on downloading a patch before I can actually start playing. I know you guys are working hard on creating new content, but **** the new content. If you can't give us a game where the mechanics and such actually work, then new content wont help much. For ******* outloud, the spawn system in ambush is barely functional, forget adding new things. Also, it's been over a month since we've seen any patches, fixes, or anything, despite there being an ocean of bugs, unbalances, and ****** mechanics. Stop dragging your feet. People are already leaving this game, my last corp kind of went belly up because of this. Several key players left for Defiance (another ****** game, btw) and the corp just imploded. Dust has a lot of potential, and I like it when it's working, but it's not working nearly enough of the time.
Show us some progress, give us some fixes, do something. Show us you actually care, or this game is going to go belly up kind of soon. I've spent money on it, and though I want the game to succeed, I kind of regret doing so atm. |

Lots is getting updated very soon and it will feel very different come May 6th. There will also be plenty of fixes that happen with that. To see what things we've brought up that are being worked on go check out the weekly bug and feedback report stickies.
Also, have to say it but beta. Those other games where companies release big day 1 patches because they released a game buggy as hell, they're fully released games. They also often don't fix later found problems very quickly at all. And for the record, there have been several hot fixes in the last month on Dust. |

These are my exact feelings right now but I'm holding out for Uprising where I plan on finding the right suit for me (Gallente assault) and getting into prototype with the skill point reset so none of this happens again, at least not to this degree.
There are awful bugs in this game and it's at least 50% unplayable. I often have trouble with squads and joining games as well as spawning and other things. I always need to relog at least once per play session. |

What hot fixes? I haven't seen a patch file in over a month, (but maybe my brain is derpy).
Also, I forgot the issue of cheating. I'm pretty sure people are starting to figure out to use the shield flash glitch to effectively get god mode. I believe this, because I always see it a lot more around certain people than I do against others. Also, these lag switches are ******* up the game for the rest of us. This **** needs to be dealt with, and now.
Uprising and the promise of a million fixes are the only things keeping people here. If ccp doesn't deliver, I think this game will die really quickly. |

I love when people start throwing around the lag switch accusations.
I've been accused myself, as well as multiple people that I know of in my corp of using a lag switch. I know personally I never use a lag switch, my KDR is too horrible for me to actually be a lag switch user. In addition, being Australian, I generally 'lag' enough that to some it may appear that I'm utilising a lag switch on. In fact my system is straining, struggling to maintain a connection to the server. |

Well Bacon Kitten, you might try doing something besides whining on the web.
How about reading the Weekly Updates in the Technical Support/Bugs and Feedback/Request Forums. They are updated every Thursday, time doesn't appear fixed but it is probably Shanghai centric.
Also in the Announcements Forum there are posts regarding the reasons for extended down times for the Servers. Just recently (Apr 23?) they did a Store fix for instance.
Not only has the issue of this being a Beta, work in progress, has been mentioned but you don't want to acknowledge that a small team should focus on the release that is due in a number of days.
Of course the only thing that matters to you is bacon, right? That is the focus of most of yours posts as I recall. Unfortunately, bacon is your responsibility and thus can only be solved by you learning how to do the bacon bits properly.
Have a nice day. |

The release is going to be great and all, but if they don't deal with some of the crippling problems, it wont be a big improvement. The matching system, for example, is already driving new people out because they show up and can't do much because they are up against way too many people running protosuits. You can add all the new content you want, but if the bugs and ****** matching system aren't fixed, the game will be remembered as being dragged down by technical issues.
But, hey, if you don't believe me about the matching system, go start a new character, run some fights, let me know how it goes. |

Done that, my character The Black Wolf (made to be a placeholder in a secondary corporation, as well as 'test' the atchmaking system.
Still manage to go 1:1 in positive in most matches (even if only barely).
Granted that the matchmaking still requires work, but seriously, it's like the guys blaming lag for every death they have. They talk as if they wouldn't die if they had no lag. I'm not a l33t player. I haven't played enough to be one of 'the best' and my skills are above average at best. But with a full 'free starter fit' character even I can still go positive in public matches. |
