bacon blaster wrote:Your matching system is crap. Everyone knows this. Whole team of proto vs whole team of lower level players does not work. A game that does not work does not last. Maybe if it was mixed a bit it might work, but it's usually not, and as I cannot run proto, all I do is die repeatedly.
I run an assault suit with a gek, sometimes, and I'll go and empty a clip into a guy wearing a proto suit, get most of the way through his shield, and have to reload. I don't get to reload, though, because he then whips about and kills me in 5 or 6 shots. I run a type 1 assault suit, on that. This means that I can't really do anything here except feed points to the other team. With all of my other suits, I don't really get any better results.
A more even exchange of fire my ass.
I read somewhere that you were not planning to fix your matching system, but, rather, you were going to hope that planetary conquest was going to draw off the higher level. As a player, this reads as a "**** off." That's like hoping that the higher level players wont run proto in pub matches now, because it makes the game unfair.
In order for planetary conquest to draw off higher level players, it would have to be a constantly available thing, and would have to be wildly profitable. Now, I admit, I am kind of fuzzy on the exact mechanics, but, this does not sound like it is the case. First, there are pesky timers, which mean that you can effectively lock out fighting for a good portion of the day. Then, there is the issue of having enough clones to fight, and then, getting enough people online to attack/defend a district. Pool all of these together, and, after the initial land runs, I don't imagine that these higher level players are going to spend that much time in conquest.
What does that leave them?
Pub matches.
Pub matches, were they will have easy farming of players, which will drive everyone else from the game. I use to try to get friends in here, back where there wasn't a constant wall of protos in pub fights, and the game was still fun. Now, it's really not fun anymore, and I actually tell people not to come in right now.
Also, fix some of your bugs. Sometimes, I shoot at someone, and get a whole bunch of shield flash, but no damage, as they are ripping chunks of my health out. (I'm pretty sure some have learned how to use this bug, but that's another angry rant) Other times, I'll empty a whole clip into someone, and they are not in any way affected by the bullets. I'm not even sure the servers register that I've fired. They shoot me fine, as I "theoretically" shoot them, but my bullets disappear into the ether. Another favorite is the reloading glitch, where it just stops right before it's finished, and then I have to mele or something and start over. That has gotten me killed plenty of times. There is also the memory leak, the suit loading, the abominable ui lag, and the really infuriating terrain glitches.
These bugs are painful and crippling, and will make the game unplayable in some cases. You've known about them for months, don't expect me to believe you haven't. You have a very vocal player base, from what I've seen, and I'm sure someone has mentioned these before hand. Other game companies get on this stuff quick, fast, and in a hurry. I almost never get a game now without spending at least 10 minutes on downloading a patch before I can actually start playing. I know you guys are working hard on creating new content, but **** the new content. If you can't give us a game where the mechanics and such actually work, then new content wont help much. For ******* outloud, the spawn system in ambush is barely functional, forget adding new things. Also, it's been over a month since we've seen any patches, fixes, or anything, despite there being an ocean of bugs, unbalances, and ****** mechanics. Stop dragging your feet. People are already leaving this game, my last corp kind of went belly up because of this. Several key players left for Defiance (another ****** game, btw) and the corp just imploded. Dust has a lot of potential, and I like it when it's working, but it's not working nearly enough of the time.
Show us some progress, give us some fixes, do something. Show us you actually care, or this game is going to go belly up kind of soon. I've spent money on it, and though I want the game to succeed, I kind of regret doing so atm.
