Hello all, Yesterday as I was being shot at by a proto forge gun in my dropship I realized that there will probably be alot of people who will be fighting in planetary conquest will be able to switch to a proto forge gun class and destroy my dropship in 2 shots. I imagine that people will be bringing all of their protos to planetary conquest, I mean why wouldnt you? However dropship pilots only have the logistic dropship and the assault dropship to bring to the table, and i fear that forge guns might make them more of a hassle to bring to a battle than a serious tool. My request is that we have some better "tech II" dropships. For instance a "tech II" Myron or "Assault dropship" that would be more durable in order to provide save transport, and to stand up to proto forge guns and swarms. I dont mean for this to be extremely over powered or a "flying tank" but as a dedicated pilot i would like to be able to bring a nice shiny proto dropship to compete for the districts in planetary conquest.
as for the dropship i would envision something like this:
Prototype Caldari assault dropship Base Shields: 2200 Base Armor: 1400 Power grid: 300 CPU: 510 High slots: 5 Low slots: 3 Base Cost: 450,000 Isk
Into the future with gunships and fighter jets hunting the skies, i feel a more durable dropship may already be in the works. However as it stands a prototype forge gun can deny a large portion of the map to dropships. I know that with the new Assault dropship skill that CCP is adding the dropship will get 5% resists, but we need a dropship that can compete.

Well, the reason Dropships are pretty bad in relation to everything else is because they're role is not yet supported by the game. The maps aren't big enough and so aren't the matches. Dropships are going to be taxis, swoop in, get the troops out, shoot some plasma, fall back, rinse and repeat.

So when PC looks as insane as that, we're going to have some fun. |

Everything Bojo said is 100% correct but I would also add that Dropships in closed beta were what HAV used to be in early open beta: OP. They used to be able to hover the field and unload volley after volley from missile turrets and wreck everything. So the dropship (and missles) fell under the nerf hammer despite the game not catering to its initial purpose. |

So in regards to forges, currently, they're the dickens because the maps are so small they're practically inescapable. Thus larger maps will allow greater area, and more room to run/hide!
I would argue DS inbalances (as in there UP atm) anyday since its the major inbalance of the build but this I see as AV has the proto and we only have a weak x tech lv DS, a lv1 tier 1 DS, and an advance Logi DS that has less PG then the tier 1, true the Logi makes a good argument, its advance, its logi, it should have more PG/CPU, but in future builds there will be proto DSes with proto gear (the gear being the big part, we only use tier 1 advance vehicle gear), but to answer the question, yes DSes will have butthurt in PC (Planeteary Conquest) but they will continue to everywhere if Uprising doesn`t give us some DS WPs. |

just going to further explain that to thoose who weren`t with us:
buffed DS collision dmage (aka, nerfed DSes for the good, but overkilled the nerf there). reason: DS could use towers to spin around and change there velocity (speed/ direction) AND drag their DS across the ground with 0 damage and tons of kills.
missle turrets skills were nerfed (aswell as the turret i think) since per lv it did 5%+ damage and the pilot shares the damage skill WITH the gunner so yea, lol, it was nerfed to a balanced +3%. (aswell as other turrets). |

IMO pilots should wait to spec into dropships until they are fixed. I'm a pilot too, but i'm tired of no reward, explosive paint and dropships lost due to stupid RDV. |

Not much the skills, but the turrets. Old missile turrets had big splash, great damage and infinite range. Now thy suck but the only thing missile turrets need to be viable is more splash radius. |
