Hey guys, this is definitely something you should listen
For those who dont want to be spoiled, dont read the rest.
Confirms the 4 racial variants for medium suits and the new minmatar light frame suits. Different stats for those suits type : Hp distribution, speed, slots layout, bonuses etc. New weapons : Plasma launcher (light weapon), Flaylock Pistol, Scrambler rifle (auto or semi-auto fire mode) Active scanner as the sole new equipment. New game mode variation Domination with only one objective 2 New battlefield and revamped version of all old terrains, structures, some textures, visual effects Wolfman mentions "new vehicle role" but doesnt say more about that. As the SiSi intel on the suits turned out to be accurate, gives hope that assault dropships may be in Uprising.
Give it a listen

Didn't listen yet, but from what I'm reading its mostly old news.
They really suck at making PVP game modes, no new modes, we only a bunch of new variations; it wouldn't be so bad if the game modes we had were actually great instead of average. This really really bothers me about this game.
What is a "battlefield", is it a height map? outpost? or what? I seriously would like to see new outposts (large building complexes).
I'm going to stop being pessimistic and listen to it now. Thank you for the link Caz. |

Nothing really new here ...
Domination mode ? With one point ? It's more like a Capture the Hill, or defend your castle... barely tested... New weapons ? Already knew it I guess. 2 new battlefield ? Hopefully, but only ? (I know, I'm greedy ;)) Active scanner --> equipment DB.
Well, I guess we'll have to wait fanfest to get real news (nothing to do with you Caz ;))

KAGEHOSHI Horned Wolf wrote:According to merc cast episode 2, we will be getting a new Skirmish variation in the Uprising build with only one objective. It's actually a variation we have seen before in some events, and I find it quite fun and intense. There is a problem however. The serious flaw with the game mode was objective spawning; the ability to spawn on the objective that your team holds. This feature exists in regular Skirmish, and helps contribute to the often one-sided battles, but it is much worse when there is only one objective. When there is only one objective, objective-spawning makes defending the objective much too easy, and allows for the first team to gain control of the objective to very easily maintain control of it, and lead to very one-sided battles. CRUs, drop uplinks, and mCRU-fitted vehicles will suffice to meet our spawning needs. Add more CRUs on the map at certain locations if you need to, but please do not allow objective-spawning in Domination.

Take the "2 new battlefields" part of the announcement in context, and it's a LOT better than it sounds at first, guys.
We keep all current maps, gain 2 more. We get a variety of SIs which change the layout of each map. Day/night cycle.
There are currently 4 maps active, and 3 "deactivated" variant maps. Even looking at the baseline, that means we'll have 6 maps, each with 3 possible SIs that could appear on them. That gives us 6 x 3 = 18 maps. Add the differences in lighting - which as we've seen in the past, make a difference to the feel of maps even without changes in layout. If we assume they have 3 different types of lighting - One for daytime with the system's star overhead, one for night with maybe a moon visible in the sky and a star-skybox, and one with the local star on the horizon (or just below it) with twilight/sunrise/sunset ambience. |

Singularity studies seems to reveal a decrease in suits prices. Especially the difference between shield and armor proto suits. From what i remember Kane was saying, it was an average 20-30% decrease. So heavies will be the ones most benefiting from this.
Also, as many items, suits and weapons are being tweaked, there's no telling what heavies will look like in Uprising. |

First of all thanks Caz for posting this interview up, very cool of you. Nothing I say past this reflects on you.
I will hold back a little on CCP since I haven't seen the new build yet, but it does sound VERY disappointing.
6 months for...
A few new suits, 4 new weapons, 2 new maps and reconfiguration (again) of old maps, 1 horrible new game mode.
I played the new game mode a few months back, once. If you are planning to put 1 objective on the map, surround it by 20 gun installations and call that a game mode... OHK.
Many people have shouted for RUSH (skirmish 1.0 - Craterlake) to come back. Couldn't agree more, this was the best game mode you've had yet and its not deployed. So it was taken out of the rotation because it was unfair to one side... so is every map you guys have put into the game so far. You ever tried a CB on any of them? ALL your maps are unbalanced. Suck it up and put it back in.
Seriously... who is in charge of DUST 514 game development? Hire some outside help, because the original content you are trying to roll out is below par. This is not a AAA shooter, I'm sure SOE has made that known to you, if not, their heads up their butts too.
This game plays like an indy shooter and is developed like one. Truth hurts, ban me, whatever. |

While I'm not as disappointed as you are, I REALLY DO WISH WE COULD GET SKIRMISH 1.0 BACK!
It was broken, too easy for defenders. Here was the problem, if the defenders put up a solid fight in the first half of the battle. (capping the first round of objectives) the attacker's MCC took too much damage, and the attacker had NO chance to cap the 2nd round of objectives.
Here's the easy fix. Make it so defender cant spawn on the objective. They have to spawn in a spot 50-100m from objective. This way, if the attacker gets the upper hand and kills off a wave of defenders, they don't have to worry about an IMMEDIATE spawn back on the objective. They actually have a chance to hack. (particularly for the first round of objectives where they need to be "blown up")
The second round of objectives is essentially what current skirmish is now. You can probably leave this as is, however, if a change is to be made...it should be that the MCC gets its HP restored after the first half of the map. (but starts accruing damage again immediately) |

You can probably leave this as is, however, if a change is to be made...it should be that the MCC gets its HP restored after the first half of the map. (but starts accruing damage again immediately) Skirmish 1.0 wasn't favored to defenders. It was favored to attackers.
If the attackers destroyed the first two objectives fast enough their MCC would dock no matter what the defenders did. (Edit: Well at that time the defenders could actually shoot at the MCC with turrets, but if we had Skirmish 1.0 now they wouldn't be able to do anything).
The attackers always had a chance to comeback and win a match no matter how late they took out the first two objectives, because if they took all three null cannons in the second phase the MCC took no damage at all.
Oh and tanks could 2 or 3 shot the first two objectives, which was really the only unbalanced thing. If only they fixed that instead of taking it out completely we would have a great gamemode now.
And also, defenders couldn't spawn on the objectives, which was yet another plus for Skirmish 1.0. |

That won't be changing for existing maps - at least not significantly, but 2 new maps will be added.
Part of the changes are purely cosmetic (updated graphics) or cleaning up terrain glitches - which fit your example.
But part of the layout of a map is the positioning and the types of buildings you can find. THE BUILDINGS WILL BE CHANGING FROM ONE BATTLE TO THE NEXT.
New building/layouts = new maps.
There are 18 variants, NOT including the lighting changes, and I'm hoping that the changes in lighting can actually - as environmental effects on maps in previous builds have done - change things more than just altering the colours a little.
If you want to use cars, it's like saying we have 4 cars now, but in a couple of weeks, they'll not only repaint the old cars and add a couple of extras, but also give us several other versions of the same type of car, with different paintjobs and different extra features, and a selection of versions of 2 new cars while they're at it. |

So will the roof for DS be liftet, will the map be much bigger, will we be able to really use strategi. or will it just be some movement of buildings, then we will have 6 more months of deathmatch in all modes and ,,,, jipppii not.
Dont get me wrong but I would love this to go well, but the activity in our corp has been dropping much, and the only reason not many have uninstalled is that I have told them, 6 th may, it will all change, and they will show us some of the game called Dust514, where we have been promised depth , it will be hard , like now its a walk in the park, and its not even good on it.
I am going to fanfest, I will apploude if it great what we get presented, I will shout out and ask questions if its just bad what is presented, I will tell them, I was just right here last year when you presented the game, I have played it a year, and this is it...
Lets hope they will show us the real game Dust514 |

No offense taken ^^ and you're welcome
Now regarding your criticism, it's no secret Dust is late on schedule regarding where it should be now. I understand the anger about the content and i share it every other day. Especially as i have decided to invest quite some personnel time on Dust 514 with the website, official forum, WTF etc..
Anyway, the real issue here is that dust's development is behind schedule. Thus updates arent fully focused on content at the moment despite the fact that's what we'd all wish. Tbh, i think that if CCP really had a choice they would still fully focus on technical enhancement but they provide some content, even if not enough to our taste, to satisfy us at least a bit on that part.
Bottom line, even though i may ***** about content on my bad days, what i'm enclined to critic strongly is if the game doesnt make a good leap in stability, smoothness, graphics and overall technical polish. |

I have to admit it sounds like CCP is adding more to AV and not giving anything to balance out vehicles. Also While people are focused on game modes and maps I would like to point out thats not what Dust is about, Its not a game of matchs and modes like call of duty or battlefield. Dust is about taking and holding districts and being able invade other districts, your not fighting single matchs to improve your K/d your fighting entire wars for your own gain or someone else.
on that note I dont want PC to simply be a series of matches all for the same general war. I would like to see Strategy and tactics for taking certain districts and for there to be more Logistics load than just the number of clones. I would personally like to see Nanites or fuel be a resource we must also manage along side our clone count that represented the amount of equipment that could be brought to bare, for example having to have enough nanites or fuel avalible to run installation, vehicels or even the power of null-cannon. As for the tactics i would like to see I would want holding one district be able to directly support another either with off-map support like drone strikes or artillery strikes as well as 5% bonuses and such. I would also like to see holding certain districts being required to go to another/ ship clones to another, this would create bottle necks, blitz routes and flesh out PC.
But my point is, planetary conquest is the point of dust not a bunch on matchs like it is in CoD and BF, just remember that. And while it will need alot of work after may 6th it will be the primary selling point of dust not loads of game modes that i could get by playing Cod or BF.
However i loved Rush and would like to see that game mode return.
I would hope that did a bunch of minor tweaks to everything from ARs and controls to Exact stats and helpful addition.
For the people complaining about this being all you get CCP done alot of minor stuff that doesn't get mention , but will have an Impact on experience all the same. |
