Take the "2 new battlefields" part of the announcement in context, and it's a LOT better than it sounds at first, guys.

We keep all current maps, gain 2 more.
We get a variety of SIs which change the layout of each map.
 Day/night cycle.

There are currently 4 maps active, and 3 "deactivated" variant maps. Even looking at the baseline, that means we'll have 6 maps, each with 3 possible SIs that could appear on them. That gives us 6 x 3 = 18 maps. Add the differences in lighting - which as we've seen in the past, make a difference to the feel of maps even without changes in layout. If we assume they have 3 different types of lighting - One for daytime with the system's star overhead, one for night with maybe a moon visible in the sky and a star-skybox, and one with the local star on the horizon (or just below it) with twilight/sunrise/sunset ambience.

Yea if I paint my car pink and put some new spotlight on it, its still the same old car, that is not good enough at all, who would like to run another 6 months on the same bad map as we are doing now. The map have to be brand new and get rid of the beta testing map,,, I am so sick of them..... PART of the map is terrain layout.

That won't be changing for existing maps - at least not significantly, but 2 new maps will be added.

Part of the changes are purely cosmetic (updated graphics) or cleaning up terrain glitches - which fit your example.

But part of the layout of a map is the positioning and the types of buildings you can find. THE BUILDINGS WILL BE CHANGING FROM ONE BATTLE TO THE NEXT.

 New building/layouts = new maps.

There are 18 variants, NOT including the lighting changes, and I'm hoping that the changes in lighting can actually - as environmental effects on maps in previous builds have done - change things more than just altering the colours a little.

If you want to use cars, it's like saying we have 4 cars now, but in a couple of weeks, they'll not only repaint the old cars and add a couple of extras, but also give us several other versions of the same type of car, with different paintjobs and different extra features, and a selection of versions of 2 new cars while they're at it.
