Sometimes, war just gets tiring. In those cases, you can return to your peasant roots with some peaceful agricultural traditions.

 Tilling the Land
First, you must build an Agricultural Facility on the District. This automatically tills arable land, allowing you to get to farming! Certain districts have better soil and climate for farming. Moister districts require less watering, and more fertile districts have more nutrients and thus require less fertilizer. Aside from that, each plant has its own temperature preferences. The closer to a plant's specific temperature preference the district gets, the better that crop will grow.

 Tractor
Now, you need a tractor. The tractor is a medium-sized land vehicle designed to plant, fertilize, water and harvest crops, depending on what modules you place on it. Tractors are elevated from the ground, so they won't crush crops that have already been planted. Seeder modules allow you to plant seeds, Spreader modules allow you to fertilize the land, Irrigator modules allow you to water plants and Harvester modules allow you to collect the crops. The Tractor comes with a built-in soil survey scanner that allows you to check the ground to see if it is seeded, fertilized, well-watered or ready to harvest.

 Seeding
To begin, you must load the tractor with seeds, then activate the seeder module while on tilled ground. The seeder module will automatically seed parts of the ground that require it, and will not overplant and waste seeds. Simple. The seeder attachment is extendable, as well, allowing you to cover more ground in less time.

 Fertilizing
Fertilizing works like seeding, but it uses Fertilizer. The Spreader module, like the Seeder module, is extendable.

 Irrigating
Irrigation is essential. Although moister climates retain water better and require less irrigation, crops in that climate still need water every once and a while. Certain crops use up more water than others, but the Irrigator module won't waste. It always gives the exact amount of water that the crops need.

 Harvesting
This is what it culminates to. Harvesting. Harvester modules harvest your crops. Be wary, though. They will harvest ALL the crops, even if they are not quite ready. Don't fret. Immature plants still produce some crops, but the younger they are the less you harvest from them.

 Uses
Since most people eat cheap, processed food these days, organic crops are luxury items, and thus sell for good money. Wheat can be used to make breads or spirits, while grapes can be used to make wine. Coffee beans can be used to make coffee, and tobacco can be used to make... well, tobacco products.

 Crops in Combat
By now you must be asking: "How do these crops affect the battlefield?". Well, for one, they obscure vision. Infantry can run into crops to hide, and vehicles can make an offensive in the cornfield. Be wary, crops will be damaged if vehicles run over them. Explosions? Those are bad for crops, too. And let's not forget about fire! Fire can burn down crops! Oh noes! Fortunately, unlike real-life fires, crop fires in Dust 514 won't last until all the fuel is gone. They will eventually dissipate, but only to discourage griefing.

Funny you mention that. Improved Boosters actually use Spirits in their production, which I suggested could be made from Wheat that was farmed on the planets.

Best request on the forums. This could also be linked to a game mode of operating wholly automated harvesters for isk, sp and loot during 10 hour games with progressive reward levels. This would define the new and peaceful afk farming.

It's all about the Hydroponics Dog!
 And Aquaponics....

Anyways, Aquaponics/Hydroponics are much more efficient than using arable land, you've just been taught otherwise by the Ag. Businesses instilling that old tyme nostalgia of using a tractor to till the land and make your skin like leather.

In fact, there's a Dust corp that would argue for me if they weren't so high all the time....

 No! A sawn-off Rail gun!

 Yes!

Except it shoots multiple flechettes instead of one projectile. Low range, high damage. CQC weapon.

Eventually you could become a Farmer of your own estate and claim it as your own. Deal is, if you have rich land or mining land, you would be a prime target for hostile takeovers. Even if you do not control good productive land, you would still be targeted eventually by people trying to expand their territory. So it would be best to get protection from a corp and alliance. Though, if you have a ton of ISK, you could probably higher your own personal security forces and/or automated defenses.

 Would be pretty freakin' awesome!
