it seems appropriate for CCP to work on a timescale similar to this one based on prior experiences with them. |

Less than Ubisoft are taking with Assassin's Creed (from decent on release in ACB, to unplayable after patching, to not getting any better 2 games later), but more than EVE (in which they're allowed to cheat). |

Well since every online game EVER has at some point suffered from lag...
Ill go with they'll figure out a way to mitigate it. But until we get fluid routers and quantum entaglement data transmission lag ill always exist. |

I wouldn't be surprised if they have a "Team Bungleberry" down in the depths of Eyjafjallaj+Škull working out the priciples of the Fluid Router. |

Whats the issue of lag. have you ever played halo, you can randomly get lag that kills matches.
I only get crazy lag in this game if it has been many hours of playing, like the large part of a day.
I got some slowdown during merc special battles.
Being that the game has loss, lag is bad to ever encounter.
People play the game to the point where they encounter lag, lose stuff and get angry.

Lag will always be in every single multiplayer game ever.
Unless everyone in the world gets fiber optics and has a server right next to their house then there gonna lag at least a little. |

Lag has nothing to do with CCP, unless your talking about Frame rate, but that's more of a hardware issue then anything (though im sure they'll find a way to address that issue). As far as connection go, have you heard of what google is doing in some select cities? There providing internet service for everyone at a rate of 1000 MB per second upload AND download. That is insane speed right there AND there doing it for LESS then what the major internet providers sell there 50 MB/S download/ upload for. The first chance I get ill be switching to google (assuming they start to extend their services). So as far as that goes..... id give it a few years before lag isn't an issue anymore (for the most part). Hopefully we'll start getting that type of internet within the next 5 years. |

In the near future, CCP invents an affordable Helium 4 Quantum Fluid Routers to sell to all customers of eve online and dust 514 for a Galaxy wide network that is lag free for all of their clients playing in New Eden Online.

Download speed won't help lag.
There are to types of internet speed. The amount of data per second, this helps download faster
The ping, this is the time delay from time data left to when it arrived. This is what fps need fast to avoid lag.
A gig per second download speed routed to the moon to Asia, then Europe back to North America could download game client in seconds, and lag worse then a 56k modem for guy next door to the internet company.
Check the ping speed before switching if you are switching internet for games, if you just download and surf then ping won't matter.
A meter in corner showing ping time in battle would be nice, this would let me no how far a head I need to aim shots so when server performs hit-scan it is lined up. |

Good to know, I should look more into it, how likely is it that there would be one without the other though? |

It's pretty common to have average or below-average internet speed and still have a good (or even great) ping.
It's rare, but still possible, to have a high-speed connection that's routed terribly and has really bad lag. Not "routed via the moon" levels of bad, but still bad. |
