I made a bug report about this a while back when the issue started that had a few other people echo that they had a similar problem start occuring for them. This is a kind of lag that causes your whole screen to freeze in place for a second. This isn't the lag you get when your framerate dies or rubberbanding. It is most noticable when I am engaging in close combat with an enemy, but It has occured when far away from everyone.
I have been told that having multiple chatrooms open causes this problem. I thought this might be true because I would notice there was chat activity when I would experience it. I exited all chatrooms but local, since I can't quit that one despite how much i wish I could. I am still getting these screen freezes even when there is 0 chat activity at all. I am also about to cut my contact list down to 10 people to give this a try.
Does anyone know any kind of solution. I'm losing my will to play this game. My AR keeps jamming on me and these screen freezes are making me want to break my remote in half when I try and shotgun. |

I don't remember having this problem. Are you sure your PS3 is not overheating? If so, elevate the console a few inches by place two small blocks under it so air can circulate under it. |

No it is not my playstation over heating. Happens on first game of the day and ps3 vents are all clean. PS3's fans are not running fullblast either.
Some of the times it affects everyone in the game, or at least everyone in my squad at the same time (perhaps everyone in the vicinity). Other times it only affects me. |

One of my friends is also having the same problem. He keeps freezing in mid game or signing in dust. If he's lucky he'll get to play one game them Dust freezes on him. I would like to know if anything will be done about this. |

This is an issue, but this is a different issue than I am trying to point out. The screen freezing I am refering to is a soft freeze that last only 1 second as opposed to the hard freeze that you are describing that requires a restart. |

I've been having a similar issue. It started happening late Sunday night. The game totally freezes for like 1 sec, and then it's like running at 1 or 2 FPS for about 2 min before it resumes to "normal" status. Until yesterday it only happened on MQ, whether i'd be browsing the market, chaging fits or chatting. For the record, i only have "Local" and Corp on my chat list (the default ones, i believe). Yesterday was the 1st time it happened to me in a match. Exact same behavior: 1 to 2 sec freeze, then ridiculous framerate for about 2 min until it continues to work properly. I was on a locked squad with corpmates.
The weird thing about this is that doesn't seem to follow any pattern, doesn't matter if it's the 1st game of the day or the 20th, it literally happens at random times. |

I can confirm, that this is a totally random rubber banding of the framerate. This has happened to me countless times and I believe may have something to do with external sources (girl friend/kids streaming youtube in the other room) but it is not consistent with their behavior (they were sleeping). Check with your Internet Service Provider about how to configure your Router for QoS provisions for gaming. Also some ISPs throttle down connection bandwidth at peak times to reduce congestion, just like a traffic jam, the packet sent from your PS3 needs to go somewhere, if it doesn't have room it crashes and doesn't get received by your PS3.
In an effort to reduce my rubber banding, I have switched from using the wireless connection, even though it is a high speed wireless router, to an Ethernet connection. This rules out interference with signal transmission through the air. I am still experiencing some moderate lag for brief 3-5 second periods of time but not for any great amount of time nor is it frequent or present in any given circumstance.
One thing about the lag being experienced by most of the people I talk with is that it is possible that when connecting to a game with people on the other side of the globe you run a high probability of being involved in a game that will experience a lot of lag.
I'm not sure if any of this will help you but if you send an email to the dust support staff they can probably help you reduce your lag like they did for me.
