Hey,
I'm curious about how some of you mercs establish your Isk vs reward. ie, how much of your ISK rewards do you spend.
I'm making 125,000 per battle and am losing around 24,000 per battle. So, I tend to operate at around 20%
I'm trying to balance the cost of a better suit against it's survivability but the next step up from where I am takes my ISK per suit from around 4000 to 15,000 which if I don't survive considerably better will net me a loss.
So, how do you set yourselves up.

I use a full BPO fitting when I want to make ISK and average 200-300k ISK per match. I would recommend you invest in a merc pack to get the AUR needed to purchase the BPO's, and to watch for in game events which occassionally reward you with BPO's (i.e. the Exile Assault Rifle). |

Basically what i did what use basic gear until I found the equipment i liked to use then found blueprints for it. Spend a bit of real money up front but in the long run save mountains of isk. Also having a free suit fit from blueprints and starter suits means (R)isk free training for when you do use proto gear. by the time you kick ass with basic gear you'll make your money's worth with proto in my opinion.
P.S. Be sure to shop around when looking at blueprints, make sure you dont waste AUR on an item you'll never use again. Try the basic gear and militia first. Dont go solely off others opinions. |

Thanks. Most of my suits are either BPO's or have a little Aur spent on them. So perhaps I do just need to get a little better in that case :( |

125,000 ain't much isk. I make 250,000-300,000 a game.
But i use some pretty expensive stuff 40K at least. The only tips i can give on how to improve your Isk reward ratio is Not die. and if you are dieing to let's say a really good team then switch to a free fit. Use BPOs if you have any to make a good free fit.

I have a full BPO fitting so I can save a ton of ISK. I do have non-BPO fittings I tend to use, but lately I've just been using the BPO. I have like 35M ISK, when I do shop I tend to spend about 2M so I don't have to keep doing it.. I'll prolly have to shop again at about 43M. |

40k is expensive? Granted my Militia gear cost 23k, but my usual Logibro gear is costing 100k. |

My fav Dragonfly setup is 15k, I usually don't die more than 2 times per match in it and I usually get >200k. I've got few freebies at hand (Dragonfly and Sever). I'm not frontline, I go for WP.
I tend not to go above 90k per suit, because I will never bring them out in a pub anyway -- they make me go cowboy and commit suicide by redberries. I think my median suit setup is 40k-ish a pop, but there's rarely a need for those and they still make me go looking for death. If it's not paper thin, then I don't feel anything, sorry.

get an type-II asault:
militia shield extenders BPO x2, militia armor plating BPO, (you're still faster than a Type-I logibro and gives a whopping 57 more armor) militia armor repairer BPO (lets be serious, +4 armor/sec is worth **** when you are death, but you need some armor regen after your glorious victory) flux nade std hive/inyector, (spam those nades baby, they are the assist-o-matic) toxic - smg/scrambler, (spray'n'pray cuz i'm feeling lucky) exile AR
price: around 13k ISK EHP: like ~500 not bad for a 10k suit.
sad truth is getting a 2 complex and a GEK increases the cost to ~48k and gives u +88shield and some more dps (w more kick included cuz, **** it, thats why) but the GEK at close range rocks. |

Even most late starts, I get more than 100,000 ISK, frequently 150,000 or more.
If I'm in the match right from the start, I bring in 200,000-ish as standard. |

I make 200k-300k and maybe more if i have a really good game killing expenisve stuff
Since i run tanks my general everyday fits are around 1mil, my advanced tanks are 2mil+ but my AUR version are around 500k so all depends which tank i break out
Either way i have to replace the mods most likely anyways
So it all depends on the matches i get given, some maps i run n gun unless i need to bring out that tank but i can always swap to AV and just do that
But in general if i risk a 1mil tank or even my best tank 2mil+ i get next to no reward even if i destroy 3 tanks it can easily still be less than 400k even tho i may have destroyed 4mil worth in tanks, sure i keep my tank but i dont get too much extra for doing my job and killing other tanks |

If you're only getting those WPs for kills and maybe a few vehicle assists, and you earn 400,000 ISK, someone with 20+ or someone who ran a good Logi game with only 5 - 7 kills will probably get 450,000 or possibly even 500,000 ISK for the same match.
Also, if you don't lose your 2 million ISK tank for 5 matches, and earn 400,000 per match, that's 2 million ISK back. You cover your costs if you're dying in your tank 1 game in 4. |

My main fit costs 128k. I'm making a profit out of most matches.
