Make sure to get a GEK 38 Fully Automatic Sniper Rifle. Ignore what it says in the various descriptions and what common sense might seem to indicate. This is definitely the tool of choice for the modern trooper. For some reason it's in the Assault Rifle section of the market.
Far more powerful than a heavy machine gun and faster at killing than a grenade with the range of a sniper rifle. :D
It's a shame I made the mistake with my skill points of doing the "sensible thing", you know... Following what it says in item descriptions, trying to "play a class", etc. Unfortunately I am now having to grind my way up to one of these beauties.

Amen.
AR is definitely the preferred playstyle anyways because it encourages hunkering down, and it's easy to steal kills with and just all around has a great reach. Unlike basically any other kind of weapon, the AR is going to not only be useful on just about any kind of map, it will dominate, because it has virtually no drawbacks.

The AR does have downsides, it makes players cocky in close quarters. Look at me i'm bigshot Duvolle guy let me just turn the corner and boom! He get's blasted by an enemys shotgun.
I've seen it happen. that kind of aggressive playstyle only comes with the HMG Shotgun and AR.
Ar is more of a jack of all trades weapon. Decent at everything but not great at anything |

Dont know why people think the AR is so great. Yeah I can get kills with it but nothing like those people who get good with the Mass Driver or Laser. A decent sniper will also always beat an AR user.
Basically sure it has good range, sure it does great damage but it lacks specialisation of role and thus will always be beaten by other weapons that do specialise. |
