I've been through 1 reset, others have been through plenty more.
The fact is I value the early research into the skills more than "evening the playfield". I got in fairly early and as a result I know more about classes and how things work. I have first hand knowledge of a class I was interested in and when the SP Refund hits I can make better decisions based on combat experience. I won't know 100% but I'll be better off than those who haven't been there.
Not only that because of the SP Refund announcement I can test stuff I wasn't willing to commit 100% to. Profile skills? Let's see what happens. Mass Driver? Wonder what an Exo is like. Stamina skills? How far can I run anyway? Support items? Never did get to see how effective the higher tier ones are. |

You know thats not going to happen dent. All this comes down to is ccp failed to communicate that aurum would no longer be reset. CCP told us explicitily that "you dont pay for a beta". Well we were still in closed beta for 2 weeks and then moved to open beta. Still beta.
I and others raised the issue right away (in closed beta). NOT to be assholes about it but because we didn't know and ccp didn't say. CCP came back to us that open beta was comercial release and changed the wording in the purchase agreement. While some were unhappy about it most where fine and moved on. The majority of people including myself never wanted aurum back just wanted ccp to communicate it.
Fast forward to ccp admiting that dust was not comercial release and you have many that are upset about this. I still dont care or want my aurum back. CCP just messed up and they need to fix it. They know this and thats what they are doing. For the record aurum for gear is all that should be refunded for closed beta players not boosters.
So you dont have to worry about you sp being reset you eve nerd. You almost sound like an IMP

I started day 1, I think I've been through 3 or 4 resets now. And yep, your probably right. They will reset, or force us to reskill again. Imagine downloading Dust 514 today, and even before its out every other player is well ahead of you. I don't think new players will appreciate us having several months head start on them. |

I hope people realise that blog is not an official source. In my view the only "reliable" information is that you filed a petition, and they replied that they are working on some kind of solution. Without the original source there's no way we can tell how much of your information stems from the questions you asked and your interpretation of their reply.
According to your post every merc pack purchased before open beta will be reimbursed (as in credited in full). Did they explicitly/clearly tell you this or was the reply in any way vague (maybe more along the lines of "we're working on a solution to compensate those who...)?
Your post suggests they are considering SP modifications for those who get reimbursements. My guess is that you specifically asked them if SP would be modified to which they replied "we can't give you any details yet", but I could ofc be wrong ;). I ask because no doubt there are people going "OMG their [sic!] gonna take my SP *ragequit*". |

You can't be sure I've filed a petition at all, honestly. You'll just have to see what happens and use it to inform your future perception of my credibility.

I haven't said that "every merc pack purchased before open beta will be reimbursed (as in credited in full", I've posted as close to what CCP replied with as a I can. They, in no uncertain terms, declared that they were implementing a reimbursement program for purchases from before the open beta.

(I could ofc be wrong ;)) I ask because no doubt there are people going "OMG their [sic!] gonna take my SP *ragequit*". I spoke to SP modifications only because they're a point of focus for many, especially those who are against purchase reimbursement. I apologise if it read as if CCP had commented on SP reimbursements. I had hoped, in writing, that that sentence would be interpreted as saying "the details of this program cannot yet be revealed... so those clamouring for or against an SP reset will have to wait for further information". Perhaps that wasn't communicated well enough. If it wasn't already a major focus of the debate, I wouldn't have mentioned SP modification at all. |

Bottom line: Stats aren't being reset and we are keeping all our SP, ISK, weapons... everything. Whatever wording was used, doesn't matter. You all got what you paid for, including me. You deserve NO refund or compensation, unless you are willing to give up all the ISK and SP you accumulated through the merc packs AUR, boosters and items. |

I don't understand why players have a problem joining a game that has veterans in it. Every game has veterans. Call of Duty, Halo, Battlefield, World of Warcraft, Eve Online, Guild Wars, World of Tanks, etc. It's practically inevitable that any game we join will have players who have invested time into it before we came along. All veterans earned their rewards for the time and effort they put in. If a reset has to be done for every new player that comes in for the next ten years, then DUST will be dead for sure because no one will feel motivated to progress if the newbies are going to hold them down. |

I hear you, it's not like they are paying $60 for the initial game. If I were CCP I'd refund all the AUR just to get people somewhat dependent on it. I'd also drop 40,000 in for new players for the same reason. |

So only merc packs purchased before the release of Open Beta (that 2 week period after the reset) will be refunded it seems. So what about the Game Stop Merc. packs? They still have the original agreement with them. According to CCP in the petition I sent them, they are trying to get that fixed. You know how Gamestop tends to screw things up for players. I still have my receipt! Don't hold your breath. Gamestop is the one that screwed up, not CCP.
I just bought one from gamestop 2 days ago, paid an extra dollar cause of taxes. Explain how gamestop is in the wrong, The game stop merc pack and the psn merc pack are two seprate items. You cant "fix" the terms, you can only change them. |

They screw you over on trade ins for starters. But what really made me angry about them is how they handled the whole Deus Ex: Human Evolution release by ripping out and shredding the promotional slip inside the box (which offered a free copy of the game via OnLive) and then selling the rest of the content to the customers without notifying them. They were even sold as new regardless that players were expecting them to have the promotional slip which had the code.
Many customers felt that their trust was violated because the company didn't sell them what they were promised by the developer. To be fair, OnLive is a competitor to Gamestop and that the Gamestop didn't want to sell content connected to its competitor. But it's that one instance in which they never told the buyers what they did which angered me. From that point on, Gamestop lost me as a customer. |
